CW: Infection mention, multiple injuries (not described in detail), passing out
Civilian started to get a little nervous as the hours and days ticked by. Villain was in and out of consciousness— although never in for very long. Whenever they drifted back, however, there was the same surge of power in the air, usually accompanied by the blue light. Civilian worried that someone else in their building was going to be able to sense Villain's presence.
Additionally, Villain's memory didn't seem to carry over from waking to waking. Civilian had to calm them anew every time. Every time, Villain had the same questions— Where am I? Why are you helping me?
About a week after Civilian had found them, however, Villain started to really wake up. Civilian had finally gotten their wounds under control and managed to chase away two infections while they were in the early stages. Everything was healing nicely. As Civilian was changing a bandage on Villain's arm, Villain suddenly grabbed their wrist.
Civilian's heart stuttered in their chest as they felt the strongest wave of energy yet. They immediately stopped what they were doing and didn't try to fight Villain's hold on their arm.
"Who are you." Villain's voice was strong with not even a hint of a waver. They weren't asking who Civilian was— they were demanding to be told.
Civilian wasn't scared— more so in awe of Villain's power. "My name is Civilian. I found you passed out in an alley a week ago. I haven't told anyone that you're here. I want to help you."
"You haven't told anyone? Don't you think that's a bit dangerous?" There was a sharp glint in Villain's eye as they tightened their hold on Civilian's wrist a fraction.
"Maybe I like to live on the wild side." Civilian answered calmly.
Villain looked Civilian up and down appraisingly, then released their wrist. "Why do you want to help me? You aren't one of those idiots that thinks I'm just misunderstood, are you?" A light smirk flitted across their lips.
"No, I'm not." Civilian withdrew their hand when Villain released them. "I want to help you simply because I admire you."
Villain brought their power back under control. "You're quite bold for a human."
For a human?
"Are you not? A human, that is?"
"Do you think I'm human?"
Civilian hesitated. "I... think you're more than human."
"Very observant. And what do you think you'll gain by helping me?"
"The honor of having met you."
Villain nodded their head to the side slightly. Civilian wasn't sure what they thought about them. They knew from the second they picked them up there was a good chance Villain would kill them to be sure of their silence. After all, dead men tell no tales.
Villain sat up.
"May I have your permission to finish bandaging your arm?" Civilian picked up the fresh bandage they had been about to use.
Villain gave a nod and remained silent until Civilian stepped back again.
"You claim to have nothing to hide?" Villain asked with a slight incline of their head.
"I never made any such claim. Nonetheless, I don't believe I have anything to hide."
"Then you won't mind." Without warning, Villain touched Civilian's head.
Civilian's vision immediately blurred as an immense pressure set in their skull. With a quiet groan, they collapsed onto the floor.
