a/n: Sooo this is my first fanfic and the first time I seriously write anything (please be kind), any comments, constructive criticism or feedback would be super appreciated! I know the picture isn't of James Moriarty, but this is how I would imagine him in the setting of a half-blood 'modern ish' universe.
Synopsis: This takes place in Camp Half Blood and is centered around f!reader, daughter of Apollo, a masterful archer and the best medic of Camp. She's just trying to live her life, but that always seems to include a certain James Moriarty, son of Ares, who always seems to appear in her life, causing chaos and conflicting feelings...
“If you stayed still, this wouldn’t have taken so long”, you told the wounded camper on the infirmary bed.
“You’re the one who started stitching me up like an arts project after I told you I hated needles!”
“Sweetheart, you opened your entire shin. I’m not a magician, the only way of closing that is with a needle and thread. Be glad we still had some anesthetic and full cabinet of ambrosia to soothe you. Avoid doing that again, and I won’t practice my embroidery skills on you.”
“Fine.” He grumbled. “I’ll wear my armor next time.”
“Bravo, hope this a good teaching moment for you.”, you answered. “Now hurry up or you’ll miss the campfire celebrations”. You shooed him playfully out of the infirmary and watched as the young Hermes boy jogged away to meet his friends.
You sighed before humming a tune as you started packing your supplies in the closet. With most of the Apollo kids helping with the festivities, you were the only one at the infirmary. You quite liked having some time to yourself, especially on a calm, warm evening like tonight. The open window was out to the ocean; You could hear the waves rolling onto the sand, feel the warm breeze entering the room, and smell the crisp of burning wood. It reminded you of the times you’d go camping with your friends, long before you discovered you were a half blood. You wondered where those people were now.
“Probably sitting at a desk, calculating budget numbers and counting the minutes before their day ends,” you thought.
Sometimes you were jealous of the simple life the mortals had. No need to worry if today was going to be your last day, no monsters to slay or friends to bury. Although you wished for a stress-free life, you were exactly where you wanted to be. There was no feeling like the rush of healing someone, shooting a perfect bullseye, yielding your first sword or winning capture the flag.
Everything was now put into place, all the gauze, scalpels and antiseptic properly placed in their containers. The beds were made, the chairs tidied and rugs straightened. You throw your first aid kid into your satchel and head down the steps of the infirmary. As you lock the door, you hear shuffling behind you. You let out an exasperated sigh, as you knew there was only one person that came to see you so late in the evening.
“Moriarty, I closed the infirmary, so no, you cannot borrow more medicinal alcohol”, you huffed.
“Woah woahhhh you wound me with your assumptions sunshine”, he mused, his Irish accent seeping through his every word. “I came here to see you; saw you patched up that boy pretty well. That’ll teach him not to try showing off.”
You quickly turned to face him, your hair whipping around with the sudden movement. “That wasn’t your lesson to teach”, you retorted dryly, pointing an accusatory finger at him. “He said you dared him to take you in a fight with no armor to prove himself. Look where that got him! Who does that?! He could’ve gotten seriously hurt if that gash hit an artery.”
James chuckled, the skin near his eyes crinkling as his mouth stretched into a wide, foxy smile. “You’re being over dramatic; it’s his fault for agreeing to such a stupid bet. I mean come on”, he dragged out, “It’s his first days and he thought himself all high and mighty. He had to understand he’s just a beginner. Besides, you’ve seen worse and it was just a joke. Lighten up.”
“Excuse you? Lighten up?” you snapped. “No this wasn’t a joke. He is 12, young, impressionable and naïve. You’re supposed to be a mentor and a friend, not a bully who sends him to the infirmary to get 20 stitches.” Your voice started to rise with the evident frustration you’ve been piling up.
His eyes widened with sudden surprise and slight amusement as his hands go into his pocket. “A bully you say.” He pauses for a moment, reflecting for a moment at the accusation. “Love if this is what you call bullying, you have yet to see the real world”.
“Please,” you chuckle with disbelief at the way he is still joking about the serious situation. “The world is filled with people who flash a kind smile and stab you behind your back. It starts with the harmless pranks and finishes with someone hanging on for dear life. I’ve seen it enough times to recognize the pattern in someone.”
“Is that so?”, he asks as his eyebrows raise, his voice laced with playful annoyance. “Any other analyses you might like to add about my person, hm?”, he challenged, tilting his head to the side. His eyes burned into you with such intensity it was frightening, daring you to retort.
You huffed, too tired to reason with an unreasonable man and walked past him towards the campfire. You try to block out the rush of his steps and his voice calling your name as he kept on walking behind you. Your brain was going at a thousand miles per hour trying to calm you down. There was nothing you hated more than someone who deliberately put others in danger. You’ve lived a thousand scenarios at this camp where one harmless prank led to a funeral. Plus, this wasn’t the first camper he sent to your cabinet.
Suddenly, you felt something grab your arm and pull you backwards. Before you knew what was going on, your back slammed onto a tree, knocking the wind out of your lungs. Your bag fell to the floor as your head avoided the impact only to be harshly tilted up by rough hands which then started pressing on your throat. Once your eyes focused you could see the glimmer of red in James’ brown eyes, a dark curl falling on his forehead as his mouth pulled into a cruel expression, his sharp and tightened jaw contrasting with the soft freckles peppered across his face. James Moriarty was a devilishly handsome man, one you could stare at for hours, analyzing every curve and scar, (not that you have… of course), with the most swoon-worthy charm. However, in the present moment, your body is in flight mode. He was not the pretty boy training in the arena, but an immediate danger to your life.
“Oi- I asked you a fecking question”, he spat, his change of demeanor from playful to menacing startling you. “Is there anything else you’d like to add to your expert doctor analysis? Hm?”. He kept squeezing at your throat, although you felt like he was holding back, even with your vision now starting to spot. “Ya don’t sound so smart now do ya-”
Just as he was about to finish his sentence, you grabbed your dagger from your pocket and yanked it upwards in the attempt to slice his forearms. He quickly dodged your movement with a chuckle, thus releasing his grip from your throat. He was having fun while you were gasping for air. While your dizziness was slowly dissipating, your throat was still throbbing, your legs were weak and your mind still under a daze at the sudden burst of anger.
There were times where you forgot that an Ares kid will never leave an argument without a fight. Even the smallest comment would trigger them. This was your brutal reminder. You snatched your bag off the floor as you staggered backwards. Moriarty simply looked up at you, amused. It felt like you were prey, toyed with by the predator. Gods, you hated that feeling.
You were still holding your dagger in one hand, making sure he kept his distance. You were not in the mood for a duel of any kind. You just wanted to join the rest of your half-siblings at the campfire and enjoy the evening. An Ares kid wasn’t going to ruin that for you. With a scoff, you turn your back to him and walk away. You could hear him hum a song behind you which slowly got replaced by the songs your siblings were playing at the festivities.
The whole evening, the music and laughter were muffled as you couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened, what you could’ve said or done. This wasn’t the first time he got angry, but he had never laid a hand on you before. Your mind started wandering through the endless possibilities. What did he really want? Was he just trying to intimidate you? Was he going to hurt you again?
These thoughts plagued your consciousness as you felt your eyes start to flutter from tiredness. You turned your head around to try finding Amarya, your sister and cabin leader, to let her know you’ll be leaving, when your gaze landed on Moriarty, who was already staring at you. He was leaning on a pine tree beyond the fire, opposite of you, his toned arms crossing to rest at his midsection. His hair looked slightly disheveled, like he tried fixing it, and a few curls fell on his forehead. The lines of his face were accentuated by the shadows of the night, clashing with the light from the fire. His eyes, once soft when he smiled, were cold as they pierced through yours, accompanied by the line his mouth was forming. You could see his jaw twitch for a moment before you averted your eyes, as if you’ve been caught doing something you shouldn’t, continuing your search for your sister.
Once you found her and started leaving, you could still feel his stare burn into your back as you disappeared in the forest, heading back to your cabin. Even as you were in bed and ready to sleep, you could not stop thinking about him.
There is no denying that James Moriarty is a charmer: he got the looks, skill and a stupid, stupid Irish accent that made the girls swoon and giggle. When he talks to you, his words were honey sweet, shameless, teasing and the nicknames he gave you made your cheeks burn ever so slightly. Then, there were days like this, when he became the person you loathed the most, a true Ares demigod. You wanted to wipe off the smirk from his face with a nose breaking punch, press the sensitive spots on his body to make him drop and shoot arrows through his heart. The mere thought of your conversation earlier sent shivers down your spine as you body suddenly remembered the press of his large, calloused hands on your throat.
Your heavily contradictory feelings for him were terrifying, one moment you wanted him impossibly closer to you and the other you wanted him bleeding out, begging for his life to be spared. Your feelings settled on the latter for the time being. Better to hate the man than falling for another playboy that would only end up breaking your heart. Right?

Professor Slughorn was a good teacher, he really was, but he also had a knack for meddling when he really shouldn’t be.
He was a romantic and he supported inter-house unity with all his heart. So it only made sense that when there was a project due that he would either pair up the couples (or random people who he saw a love blossoming between) or people from opposite houses.
He usually made the right calls, a miracle really. New couples were being created and when that did happen he made sure to invite them to his parties just to make sure that he can flaunt his matchmaking abilities.
There were however some other unfortunate times where he paired the two wrong people up. It usually ends up with burns, cuts, and more often than not, a trip to the hospital wing. The students usually knew when a pair was going to crash and burn, it’s hard not to know after knowing each other for six years now.
Slughorn’s been at Hogwarts for a month, but since then he’s already been assigned three projects. Perhaps he wanted to pair people up to grade less papers, though that was just simply foolish thinking. This project was the last of the semester and it was due the day before Christmas, more specifically right before his annual Christmas party.
It was October when he decided that he was going to tell everyone who they paired up with for the big project. He listed out names, one by one, pairing my brother and Hermione together. He listed off Zabini and Parkinson together, and many others. I waited patiently for my name to get called.
Slughorn clears his throat before announcing the last pair, “Weasley and Malfoy.”
Murmurs echo through the class as Ron looks at Slughorn, mouth open while Malfoy eyes Ron up and down with disgust. Slughorn adjusts his spectacles before he announces, “Oh look, there’s someone left, Miss Potter…hm I guess you’ll just pair up with Mr. Weasley.”
“Does that mean that I won’t be with Malfoy?” Ron beams from his chair, Slughorn frowns again and looks back down at the parchment filled with student’s names that he no doubt spent hours pairing up only to forget one detail - “Oh look at that! This class is an odd number.”
“I would be more than glad, working alone.” Malfoy says from the Slytherin side of the room with a pompous attitude. He adds,(completely unnecessarily by the way) eyes flickering to me and Ron with a frown, “I’ve got more brains than the both of them combined.”
The Slytherins chuckle and I roll my eyes. Ron seems to be just about ready to jump on him, but I grab his forearm holding him back that he shrugs off after looking around the classroom. Slughorn looks around the room, not trying to stop the teasing or the brewing up fight but instead analysing the situation. He pulls out a pink monocle and looks around with it. Trying subtly to look at the list of names and the students.
They are what I like to call his ‘Matchmaking Monocle’, they are of course magic, laced with a spell to find the hidden attraction between people, I did however have Hermione look, and there is no such spell. It is fun to wonder, though.
Slughorn strokes his chin, deep in thought and then grins. He claps his hands together and says, “So that makes all the pairs together, except of course our threesome here.”
He points to Ron, Malfoy and I while a few members of the classroom chuckle at the innuendo. Harry glares at them, he was never one for people joking about his sister and Hermione scoffs, she was never one for such crude jokes. Malfoy interrupts, “Professor, I would really appreciate it if I could work alone instead.”
“Work alone if you must, Mr. Malfoy, but you’ll be out of the running for the prize.” Slughorn threatens. Malfoy seems to not care at all for the prize till Hermione politely raises her hand to ask, “May I ask, what is the prize sir?”
“Due to the success of our first competition-” he recalls, and many people hum, many were envious of the liquid luck that my brother won. He continues, “I’ve decided to make the prize this time also Felix Felicis, except this time, you’ll not only receive more than just a few drops, but you’ll also be allowed access to my own potions book and I’ll aid you in the creation of any potion you desire.”
Professor Slughorn sits down at his desk before looking at Malfoy, “Should I write your name alone, Mr Malfoy?”
To everyone’s surprise, and Ron and I’s misery, Malfoy shakes his head ‘no’. That’s how I got stuck with Malfoy as a partner for one of the biggest potions projects that I’ve ever had.

October 3rd
“I don’t want to work with him.” Ron complains as he falls onto the common room sofa. Hermione and Harry have been sitting on the ground since before Ron and I left to the kitchens to get some muffins. I huff as I lay down beside him. Harry’s looking down at the love of his life (his potions book) but still he motions his hand to tell Ron to move away from me.
“I don’t want to work with him either, but what are we going to do? Just not hand in the project?” I ask rhetorically, but Ron perks up at the idea. Hermione, the saint, hands over to pieces of parchment with some number scrawled on them. She explains, “I knew that both of you would contemplate throwing the project, or at least Ron would, so I calculated your grades if you do so, and using previous grades are references for future ones.”
“Acceptable!” I shout, I couldn’t afford to get an acceptable grade on my potions NEWTs, while Ron admires his Acceptable, and looks at the other grades nodding his head, as they seemingly must be attainable. Hermione adds, “Oh, and Ronald, that Acceptable is based on if you get a hundred on the final.”
“A hundred out of?”
“A hundred percent, Ron.” I reply, patting his back gently. I hear a small growl, and I can see Harry’s chest vibrate. I lift my hand up and the growling stops. I put it back down on Ron’s shoulder and the growling starts again.I’ve never met a person quite like my brother when it comes to Ron and I. Ron asks, admiring the power Harry possesses, “How do you do that?”
“Must have eyes at the back of his head like Professor Quirell.” I joke, and Harry glares at me. I toss him a muffin to calm him down and he catches it and starts to munch on it. Harry closes his book, and turns around to face us. Pulling the book closely to his chest, I chuckle. Harry says, “I’m glad that you’re paired up with Malfoy.”
“Oh, so you’re glad that I’m going to suffer.” I say, folding my arms over my chest. Harry shrugs his shoulders, he explains, “You’re both this bold when I’m around then I can only fear what you would be like without supervision-”
“Excuse me, bold? I touched his back!” I exclaim, and my brother shoots me an angry look. He continues to explain, “Having Malfoy there would be the stop to any inappropriate behaviour.”
Merlin, he sounds like Hermione with that one, and it’s not as admirable when it’s coming from my brother.
“Or, you know, it could just make things hotter.” Ron whispers, voice low enough that only I can hear, and he gives me a cheeky grin, but as previously mentioned, my brother has a super sense when it comes to this. Harry doesn’t think before he throws Ron over the sofa when he launches at him. It’s only a few seconds before Harry floats up in the air and is brought down to his original place by Hermione who’s waving her wand around while reading her book.
We have been here plenty of times before.Ron pops his face up from behind the sofa and he grimaces, “Alright, sorry.”
“We could do the project together.” I propose, and add, “We could do all the work, and then just have him write a summary or something. Beats working with him for three months.” I quiver, even thinking of being around that prick for more than an hour irks me.
“That’s a brilliant idea.” Ron exclaims and he plops himself back on the sofa, being mindful to leave a few inches between us. Harry says, “I don’t support this decision, as much as I hate having you spend time with a death eater-”
“Which he’s not.” Hermione says, and Harry ignores her completely. Harry has been on Malfoy’s tail since the beginning of the semester. I’m starting to get worried. Harry shudders, “anything is better than having you guys…hug.”
I give Ron an incredulous look and I say, “He does know that we’ve hugged before, right?”
“Maybe like three years ago before I realised his intentions.” Harry says, shooting Ron a glare. I purse my lips and genuinely ask, “You really don’t think Ron and I hugged for three years?”
Harry’s face drops, and he looks at Ron who is now firmly gripping his wand just in case Harry decides to attack. Ron’s face was already flushed. I push, “Not even a birthday hug? Or a Christmas hug? Or a ‘I’m so glad you’re alive’ hug?”
A few moments pass as I realise Harry did genuinely believe that he’s prevented all contact between me and Ron. Harry’s gaze flickers between me and Ron and especially Ron’s guilty face. For the second time in the past five minutes, Harry jumps on Ron, sending them both flying over the sofa. Does Harry not remember how many times we’ve risked our lives in the last few years? Of course, I’d hug any of them after that.
I can hear them both shouting and cursing. The sounds of hitting as well. I look at Hermione who is peacefully reading her book. I ask, “Aren’t you going to stop this?”
“No, if they’re bruised up they won’t fight for at least a day. I’m saving time tomorrow.” Hermione says and I nod along with her. I hear more crashes and what sounds like someone’s nose breaking. I grimace and look over the sofa to see blood rushing down Ron’s nose.
When I sit back down, I’m met face to face with a young boy no older than second year. Ohh, I remember when we were that little and Harry wasn’t beating Ron to a pulp every few minutes. The boy says, “There’s a boy asking for you outside.”
“What?” Harry pops his head up from behind the couch and reaches over to grab a tissue from a tissue box then drops it beside him, for Ron no doubt. Harry asks, “What’s his name? What does he look like?”
“Shiny white hair and a Slytherin.” The boy says, and I frown. Ron stands up beside Harry with the tissues pressed up to his nose. The boy points at Ron and says, “He’s asking for you too.”
“Must be about the project.” I conclude. I hop off the sofa and make my way to the common room door, but not before dragging Ron along with me, guiding him as his eyesight was a little blurry from the broken nose. This is definitely not the first time this has happened. I open the door to the common room, and Malfoy is standing a few feet away.
I leave Ron’s arm, and he leans his head back and presses the tissues more tightly to his skin. Malfoy looks at Ron and I in disgust, more when he notices Ron’s bleeding nose. Malfoy looks away for a moment, before looking back at me, focusing his attention on the non-bleeding one of us. I start, “I have a proposition for you.”
“Ron and I will do the project, entirely with the potions samples and everything, with the presentation and the research. We’ll give you some sort of papers to organise or something and you can just write the essay conclusion, and we won’t work together, it’s a win-win, more for you than us, we’ll be doing all the work, after all-”
“No.” Malfoy says, and I look at him questioningly. I purse my lips and look around confused. He must not have heard me well, he clearly can’t be that idiotic. I say, “What are you complaining about? You get to do zero work and get the credit for a third of the project?”
“No.” Malfoy repeats, and his eyes flicker to Weasley before looking away. Ron stumbles a bit, and I push him back so he can lean towards the wall, he’s right about where the dizziness kicks in. I steady Ron for a few more seconds before looking back at Malfoy. I say, exasperated, “You’ve got to be kidding me, right?”
“No, I will not let you do all the work cause you are going to mess it all up.” Malfoy explains, and I resist the urge of letting my jaw drop at the nerve of him. I roll my eyes and scoff, “We’re not some sort of mentally deficiency, Malfoy.”
“I would beg to differ.” Malfoy shrugs his shoulders, folding his arms over his chest. He adds, “I am doing this project to win, and I will not be winning with the both of you doing all the work, so I will give you a counter offer, I do the project myself instead.”
“You’re so full of it, you won’t be able to do the project yourself. We have a minimum of five other subjects, you won’t have the time and you’ll fail us both.” I counter, and Malfoy glares at me. He seethes, “I am more than capable to do anything you both can do and better.”
“Typically, I would enjoy seizing the opportunity and watching you crash and burn, but I’m not going to put my NEWT grades on the line just to belittle you when you already do that so well yourself.” I say, angrily. I continue, “I know you think that you’re some sort of god with the way your father’s been treating you, but guess what, you’re nothing but a slimy little git.”
“At least I have a father to spoil me.” Malfoy says, and I want to do nothing more than just punch the teeth right out of his filthy mouth. Just before I could lurch at him, Ron falters and I have to quickly hold him up. I lean him back against the wall and I can see that the tissue’s soaked with blood, and it’s dripping down his neck into his shirt.
I press my hands to my hips, a spell should stop the bleeding, and quickly everywhere else and curse when I don’t feel my wand. Malfoy taunts, “Always classy, Potter.”
I glare at him before I notice the wand sticking out of his bag. I reach for it, and Malfoy takes a shocked step back. He looks at me, confused. I reach my hand out and motion for him to give me his wand. I ordered, “Give me your wand.”
“No!” He says, and I roll my eyes, reaching for it again. He clutches it tightly, looking at me like I’m some sort of madwoman. Does he not see Ron bleeding next to us both? I say, “Come on, now Malfoy, I’ll do a simple spell and give it back.”
“I do not know what makes you believe that I’ll give you my wand.” Malfoy says and takes a few steps away, knowing that if I come at him, I’ll have to let go of Ron, sending him tumbling to the ground. I send him a look that would send him six feet under. I say, “I would let you do the spell yourself, I wasn’t so sure that you would harm him instead.”
“That’s true.” Malfoy admits, and grins, proud of himself. Ron’s blood starts to drip on my fingertips, and I shiver. I hate blood. I think and then say, “If you don’t give me your wand, I’ll tell Slughorn that you want to do the project yourself.”
“I’ll just tell him that you wanted to do the same.” Malfoy counters back, and I smirk at him and ask, teasingly, “Slughorn may be a Slytherin but who do you think he’s going to believe? The sister of the Golden boy and his favourite student or you.”
Malfoy seethes, and looks at me with more anger while I just smile at him, knowing that he’s at a loss. I put my hand out and I motioned for him to give it to me with a grin on my face. He frowns and huffs before reaching out to place it in my hand. I’m just about to grasp it when he pulls it away. He says, “Only if I get to hold it.”
“I’m not letting you do the spell, you’ll kill him!” I shout, and Malfoy shouts back at me, “I won’t just give it to you, you’ll attack me.”
Ron groans, mumbling something along the lines of, “stop fighting or I’ll die.” A bit dramatic if you ask me.
“Believe it or not, there are things higher up on my agenda than killing you, Malfoy.” I say, angry as I feel the blood start to accumulate. As if I’d go to Azkaban for his murder. Malfoy reaches over again before he hesitates, “Only if I get to hold it too.”
“And how do you suggest we do that?” I shout at him and he reaches over to grab my wrist. He places his wand inside my palm then cups my hand with his other hand. He removes his other hand from my wrist and he says, “Go on, do the spell then.”
“Episkey!” I say, and Ron groans as we hear his nose snap back into place. I wave my head for another spell that cleans up all the blood, vanishing it into thin air. The blood that landed on my fingertips, also disappearing.
Malfoy doesn’t waste a second before slipping the wand out my grasp and taking a few paces away. He flexes his hand, while I rub my hands together, only now, noticing how cold his hands were.

He looks at Ron and I in disgust once again. He then says, “Tomorrow at the library before dinner, do not be late, it’s your fault we have to do this together anyways, no need in dragging it out more than necessary.”
Summary: After the drastic event in you, James, and Harry’s lives, things aren’t the same, but that still doesn’t dull your attraction towards James. In fact, the more time you spend apart from him, the more you can’t stop thinking about him.

The day came for you to say goodbye to Harry. It was also the day Molly and Arthur would pick you so you could move into their house during the school year since the older children had moved out and they could use an extra pair of hands around the house.
Before the train left, you, Harry, and his parents met up with Hermione and the Weasleys. You thought of how glad you were to see them again as you gave each one of them a hug. Ginny had grown taller, Ron had grown stronger, Hermione was still smart as ever, and the twins were still the same goofballs you had graduated with.
You thought it was unusual that Harry gave you an even bigger hug than he did to his parents.
“You alright there?” You asked him.
“I’ll miss you, you know.” He said. “It’ll be my first year without you.”
“Hey, what about us?!” Fred and George’s voices came from behind you, making you jump.
“He’ll get over it.” You turned to them and waved your hand in front of you. “And he was talking to me.” You rolled your eyes playfully.
“Sure he was.” You could practically hear the smirk in Fred’s voice.
“Who wouldn’t miss their big sister?” Same with George’s.
“Don’t you guys know you’re embarrassing him?” Hermione joined in on the conversation.
She was right. You looked in Harry’s direction, where you were greeted by his blushing face.
Why did it seem like they all knew something about Harry that you didn’t?
“Everything will be alright, Harry. We’ll write to each other.” You gave him a reassuring smile and rubbed his back in an attempt to soothe the redness in his cheeks, but that apparently only made it worse.
“I’m sure he’ll be writing to her more than to his parents.” You heard one of the twins whisper to the other one.
You had an easy time distracting yourself from the grief of your parent’s deaths and your forbidden attraction towards James. There was never a boring day in the Burrow. You were always doing something with Molly and Arthur whether it was training, helping out in the garden, cleaning and cooking, or helping the both of them host Order meetings in their house. Other times, you were writing back and forth to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. In his latest letter, Harry had written that he had become the captain of the Quidditch team, and Ron became the Keeper, both of whom you congratulated in your subsequent letters.
The Order meetings were something you dreaded as much as you looked forward to because it was when you’d be forced to be in the same room as James and Lily, whom you hoped wouldn’t suspect you of having a crush on her husband.
You weren’t expecting to embarrass yourself when you came downstairs wearing Percy’s old sleepwear. In the living room was every adult member of the Order you’ve met so far. Not every member showed up to every meeting, so this was a surprise for you.
You saw Remus and Tonks sharing a seat on an oversized armchair big enough to fit both of them while her parents were standing nearby, talking to them. The younger Tonks was the first person to see you as she gave you a goofy grin and waved at you. Next to the pair, the twins were standing next to each other in their own side conversation. Sirius, James, and Lily were at the dining table. Across the room, there was Mundungus Fletcher looking at a shelf of magical artifacts as if they were the most interesting things in the world, and Alastor Moody stood next to him, as if he were making sure he didn’t steal anything. You thought you saw Molly throw a disgusted look towards Fleur Delacour who was talking to Bill and Charlie.
“What’re you all doing here?” You asked groggily.
“Time for you to go back to bed, young lady.” You heard Sirius say.
“What’s going on?” You ignored him.
You then noticed everyone looking at each other back and forth, making you feel awkward.
“Make sure she doesn’t find out.” Tonks was whispering and you saw Remus and Sirius roll their eyes at her inability to keep her mouth shut.
“Find out about what?” You looked at Tonks straight in the eyes.
“Nice one, Tonks. Now she’s going to find out.” Fred elbowed her.
“At least it’s not us getting in trouble this time.” George whispered to his brother.
“Will someone tell me what’s happening?” You demanded the now silent crowd.
“It’s about Dumbledore.” Alastor Moody was the one to get straight to the point.
“We think there’s a plot to assassinate him.” Remus said reluctantly.
“You think?” You raised your eyebrows at him. “What evidence is there? Who brought this up?”
“We got a letter from one of the students.” Sirius said, looking towards his two companions at the table. “It was discovered that Draco Malfoy had been the one planning it. Voldemort had tasked him over the summer. There were other unsuccessful attempts-”
“What student?” You interrupted him.
“That’s not important.” James said.
“Harry followed Malfoy into the bathroom and interrogated him after he overheard Snape scolding him about how he was supposed to poison Dumbledore, not Ron.” As fast as Tonks had blurred out the story, everyone else glared at her.
“Oops.” She whispered meekly.
“You’re going to save Dumbledore right?” You asked everyone, making sure to look them all in the eye. They all gave each other that look that implied they were planning something that excluded you.
“We can’t let you come with us.” Arthur said.
“Why not?” You asked him.
He didn’t let any emotion show on his face.
“There will be Death Eaters trying to get into the school. If they see you, you’ll be in even more danger. They’re already looking for you.” With a deep breath he added, “Especially because they failed to find you and kill you after they did to your parents. Or worse… Make you join them. I’m so sorry.”
“You mean all this time they were looking for me?” You were shocked at Arthur’s revelation. “That’s why you kept shuffling me around different homes this past year. Because you were hiding me without me knowing.” It was all starting to make sense.
“Arthur, that’s enough you’ve upset her.” You must’ve looked like you were about to vomit because Molly came over to you and put an arm around your shoulder.
“Come on, Dear. Let’s get you upstairs. I’ll make you a cup of tea.” She said to you.
“I’m going.” You said boldly.
“No you are not.” James slammed his hand on the table as he stood up.
“If they’re looking for me, let them find me. I don’t want to hide. I want to be a part of something that makes a difference. Isn’t that what it means to be a member of the Order of the Phoenix?” You shrugged off Molly’s hand from your shoulder.
“Hogwarts Express leaves in two hours.” Moody said.
“Alastor! No!” Molly yelled in a threatening tone like she was dealing with the twins.
“She has a point. If she wants to prove she’s capable of handling herself, let her. I trust her.” You were thankful at least someone knew the right way to treat you like an adult.
You could tell no one in the room was happy with what Moody had to say even if he did have a point.
James couldn’t stop bouncing his leg against his seat. The countless possible outcomes of what could happen to you ran through his mind faster than the train was running. He felt Lily’s hand patting his thigh, as if trying to soothe him.
“I remember my first time riding this train.” She smiled, looking out at the mountains.
James scoffed. “So do I. That’s when I first met you. And Snivellus. You know we’ll see him right? He works there.”
“Come on, James. He’s changed just as much as you did.”
“From what Harry’s told us about him, I know he’s changed from a bitter teenage boy to a bitter teacher.”
“It’ll be alright, you don’t have to be overly friendly with him if you do see him.” James felt comforted as she put her hand on his.
The scenery zooming past the window did nothing to soothe the nauseous feeling inside your stomach that had been there since the morning. One thing you were grateful for was that you were alone in the compartment. You didn’t want anyone else to see you like this, all huddled up with your knees to your chest, looking like a nervous wreck. You didn’t want the others to regret their decision to bring you along. You were starting to second guess yourself. Maybe you should’ve listened to James and Arthur by staying at the Burrow.
You tapped your finger against the handle of your wand that was tucked into your boot. You then moved onto fiddling with the laces of your dress, (the one that Sirius dug out from his mother’s closet.) You had to busy yourself with anything to get your mind off your anxiety.
You were a Gryffindor. It was your job to be brave, you reminded yourself as you let yourself doze off.
You awoke to a knock on the window of your compartment door. You sat up and rubbed your eyes as the faces of Moody and Tonks came into focus.
You opened the door to let them in.
“Good evening, Sleepyhead.” Tonks greeted you, alerting you that it was in fact evening already and that you’d be arriving in Hogsmeade soon.
“Now, you listen to me.” Moody said, as he let his staff bang on the floor in front of him before he and Tonks took a seat in front of you. “I trust you enough to come with us. Tonks and I both think you’re ready.”
You looked at Tonks, who gave you one of her goofy smiles and a thumbs up.
“The problem is,” Moody continued with a frown. “The others underestimate you. They can’t keep coddling you.”
“Don’t worry.” Tonks gave you a reassuring smile. “I remember my first mission with the Order. I was just as nervous as you are.”
“Don’t, under any circumstances, separate from anyone in the group.” Moody said to you gruffly. “Are we clear? You can’t be seen alone by a Death Eater.”
“Yes sir.” You said.
As soon as all of you got off the train, you looked at each other, sensing a more sinister presence across the Black Lake looming over the school.
“They're here already.” Sirius said grimly.
“How? We know the teachers put up protection charms around the school to keep out the Death Eaters.” James said.
“I don’t know, James.” Sirius shrugged. “But we need to get there quickly.”
All of you then rushed to where the carriages were. You looked on sadly as you saw James sitting next to Lily with Remus and Sirius across from them.
You shivered in your dress as you got onto the carriage with Tonks and Moody.
“I know what you’re thinking…” Tonks caught you off guard when she winked at you.
“Excuse me?” You looked to Moody for clarification, but it seemed he was just as confused as you were.
“Don’t pretend like I don’t know what you’re thinking. I went through the same thing with Remus.”
Your eyes widened and you blushed as it then clicked in your brain what she meant. Moody looked on to the side of the carriage, completely ignoring you two.
“There’s no need to feel bad even though he’s married.”
“What?!” You loudly whispered as you covered your mouth. You looked at your two companions feeling embarrassed.
“Moody’s been around too long to not know how to keep secrets and ignore them.” Tonks said nonchalantly.
You felt disturbed that she was able to read you so openly. If she was able to do it, you’d hate to imagine what the others might pick up on from you.
“I know you.” Tonks went on. You wanted to tell her to shut up as much as you wanted her to keep talking. “You’re too innocent to want to hurt Lily. That’s why you’ve never said anything. Don’t be scared of your feelings as long as you don’t act on them.”
“Yeah, I won’t.” You scoffed, more to yourself.
“Then you haven’t got anything to worry about.” She said a little too cheerfully.
“Oh… thanks?” You didn’t know what else to say about her awkward, but well-intentioned attempt at giving you advice.
As you got to the school, your nerves didn’t calm down one bit. In fact, they seemed to multiply. Heeding Moody’s advice, you tried to stay as close to everyone, but you somehow found yourself alone in the familiar dark corridors. You lost track of time, trying your best to hide from any Death Eaters roaming the castle along with the screaming students running for their lives.
You thought you had lost everyone when you heard a voice softly call out your name.
You turned around to the sight of Harry running towards you. He was wearing jeans and a hoodie. You felt tears threaten to escape you. You were so glad you found someone you were familiar with amongst all this chaos.
“Harry, what is it?” You asked frantically.
“It’s Voldemort! He and the Death Eaters got into the castle and now they're battling with the Order in the Astronomy Tower!” He answered you just as frantically. He was also out of breath. “Dumbledore told me to run. And then, my parents told me to go and find you.”
“I’m so happy you’re alright.” You hugged Harry just as tightly as he hugged you. “Where are the other students?”
“Fred and George are helping the Prefects make sure everyone else gets to their common rooms.” He said.
“I have to go help your parents and the others!” You suddenly let go of him.
“Dad told me to get you to the Gryffindor common room where he thinks you’ll be safe.” Harry contradicted.
“I told your dad and the rest of the Order that I’m not hiding.” You contradicted him back. “I’m going to help. Are you coming with me?” You took out your wand from inside your boot.
Harry sighed. “Alright, then.”
Seeing as how Harry was almost as short as you, you had no trouble keeping up with each other’s footsteps as you ran through the castle and up the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. The first person whose eyes you caught were James’. He was in a duel with Professor Snape, who if you looked closely, was deflecting James’ attacks at the Death Eaters next to him. You knew Snape was a powerful wizard, so there was no way he’d do this unintentionally. It was strange to you, but you didn’t question it out loud.
“Kids! Get out of here!” James yelled at you and Harry, which made Snape turn his eyes towards you.
“I’m not leaving without a fight!” You yelled back through the sounds of other screaming wizards around you.
“Stop it! This isn’t the time to try to act like a brave little Gryffindor! You’ll only get hurt! Harry, I told you to make sure she gets to the common room with the other students!” James was out of breath as much as Snape was. You were just as thankful as you were confused as to why Snape didn’t try to attack you and Harry.
“No, Dad. She didn’t want to go. And I’m with her!” Harry exclaimed cofindently. “I’m not leaving without a fight either.” You both gave each other a nod.
For the first time since entering the tower, you took a full glance at your surroundings.
Tonks and her parents were fighting against two witches you recognized as Bellatrix Lestrange and her younger sister Narcissa Malfoy, who looked like she didn’t want to be there, with the eldest of the three sisters repeatedly throwing insults at the middle one, along the lines of “blood-traitor” or “mud-blood lover.” If it weren’t for the wands, it would’ve looked like a typical family argument.
You then saw Fleur, Bill, and Charlie try with their combined strengths to fend off the wolfish attacks of Fenrir Greyback, whom you knew as the one responsible for turning Remus into what he had become. If he was no weaker than three grown wizards combined, you’d hate to see what he’d be capable of in his full wolf form.
The two most powerful wizards in the room however, were Dumbledore and Voldemort, who instead of exchanging words and attacks, put all their energy into a clash of light, daring each other to let go and give into the exhaustion.
It was Dumbledore who gave in, as Voldemort’s blast hit him and sent him to the ground. Dumbledore may have been old, but his speed at getting up was rivaled to that of someone your age.
You saw Voldemort whip his head around to find a new target, you and Harry. He shot a non-verbal attack at you, and with you and Harry’s combined strengths, were able to block it.
You saw James let go of his mission of attacking Snape as he turned to the three of you, and before Voldemort could get a look at him, he pushed him to the ground.
“I told you two to get out!” James yelled angrily.
Using the strength of both hands, Voldemort grabbed James by the collar of his shirt, and tugged him off before pulled him up to eye-level.
“James Potter…” He sneered, as James clenched his teeth, keeping eye contact with him. “Just as weak as the day I tried to kill you all those years ago.”
James grabbed his wrist and pried them off of him, but not before spitting in his face.
“You are not scaring me!” He yelled over the sound of Voldemort’s cackling.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Snape standing all alone, everyone else too distracted by fighting each other to notice him, but not you and Harry.
Snape aimed his wand at Dumbledore, and you heard the spell being used for the first time.
“Avada Kedavra.” He didn’t sound angry, just sad, like he knew he had to do this and was dreading it. You guessed that with all of Malfoy’s failed assassination attempts, Snape decided to take matters into his own hands.
Except it didn’t hit Dumbledore because Lily pushed him back to the ground, making the blast hit her instead.
The entire battle stopped, and everyone put down their wands.
“Lily! No!” James turned his attention to Lily from Voldemort, who looked like a child watching fireworks on New Year’s.
Harry was being held back by Remus from attempting to lung out at Snape and get himself hurt, you assumed. The only things that came out of Harry were tears and a scream, no words.
You heard Bellatrix’s cackle as she was the first Death Eater to fly away from the observation deck, not without a goodbye.
“Until next time, little sister!” Her maniacal laughter faded along with her. Narcissa pushed past her niece as she wordlessly sprinted down the stairs, probably to go find Draco.
After the other Death Eaters flew away, Voldemort disapparated along with his maniacal laughter that was deeper than Bellatrix’s. Snape was the only Death Eater who remained.
It was James who threw a punch at Snape, but all he did was stand there without a word, letting James use him as a punching bag a couple more times.
“I was right about you! You are still the same terrible person I went to school with! Lily tried convincing me you’ve changed! She was your friend! I can’t believe she ever chose to be your friend! You never deserved her in your life! You will never be worthy enough to have someone like her in your life!” With each sentence that ripped out of him, James’ punches towards Snape became more potent until there was a faint line of blood coming out of his mouth.
“Fight back, you coward!” Was the last thing James yelled before letting his fist drop to look at the forming bruises on his knuckles.
Dumbledore was silent as he came over to James, and put an arm around the crying man’s shoulders.
He gently pulled him away, and whispered, “I’ll apparate her body back to Godric’s Hollow. Make sure you and the others regroup at your home. I’ll meet you there.”
James held his head up, revealing his tears to everyone. He nodded at Dumbledore’s order.
There were bouquets of Lilies everywhere in James’ living room. The number of flowers had greatly outnumbered the people. He couldn’t have known that during the moment Lily was talking about her first train ride to Hogwarts, it would also be her last train ride to Hogwarts. It was like a twisted circle of life, is how James saw it.
Then there was you and Harry. You had lost two parents, gained multiple parental figures, and lost one of them in the span of a year. Harry had never seen someone die before, and it was even worse that the first death he witnessed was his own mother.
He saw you and Harry sitting on the couch together. Your arm was around his shoulder, and he was sobbing his heart out. People used to tell James that boys don’t cry and they should feel shame for showing such a vulnerable emotion in public, but at that moment, James felt proud of his son for having the courage to show his emotions in public, and proud of you for being a good supportive friend to his son.
The rest of the wake went by in a blur, the only other vivid thing James remembered being Dumbledore giving a small speech about Lily’s life before inviting whomever to give their own speeches about her.
This was the last day James would be in close proximity with you for a very long time.
Life went on, but you never stopped thinking about James. After saving up your money, Sirius helped you find a flat in London while Arthur was finally convinced to arrange for you to begin your training as an Auror under the mentorship of Kingsley Shacklebolt. Being as busy as you were, you stopped showing up to the Order meetings even though you received every invitation Arthur had sent you.
Although you were new in the Ministry, Kingsley still held you to the same standards and expectations as he did with the older employees. That only made you more eager to prove yourself which led to you being satisfied with the outcome of your hard work.
That didn’t mean you were any less grateful for the Potters, Weasleys, Sirius, and other members of the Order for helping to shape you into who you had become. You would never stop being grateful towards Lily for everything she had done for you over the past year you’d known each other. You felt that your gratefulness towards Lily and the sadness you felt for her death made you even more guilty of still having that same attraction you had towards James.
You still thought about him every night before you went to bed. Every time you thought about your memories with him while you were in bed, you would experience a dull ache between your thighs that didn’t go away unless you used your fingers, your hairbrush, or even your pillow to rub in that specific spot to relieve it.
Still wearing your camisole and your panties, you tried to drift off to sleep, but once again, your mind imagined that instead of you being by yourself, that James was next to you. It was summer which meant it was way too hot for you to put a blanket over yourself.
Your head started to feel hazy as your fingers traced over your lips, imagining a kiss with James. The knuckles of your other hand found themselves brushing from the back of your ear to your neck, where you remembered James had brushed a strand of your hair behind it during that training session.
There was no denying that jolt of pleasure that ran through you for a split second as his finger accidentally grazed along the seam of your shorts that covered your pussy. As if having your pussy lips being touched wasn’t enough, you had even felt the pressure of his finger on the sensitive little nub just above it. Just imagining his fingers being there again made that ache between your thighs burn even more.
You let your fingertips trail from your lips to your neck before going over the hardened peak of one of your nipples. You gasped at the pleasurable sensation you brought onto yourself. You continued to softly rub your finger over your nipple, then squeezing your breast, alternating between the two actions. The fingers of your other hand then went over the goosebumps covering your stomach before tracing over the lace trim of your panties. Your fingers were so close to circling over your clit and your inner lips which were so swollen from all the blood rushing to them that just the lightest pressure of anything against the thin material covering them would make you explode.
“Well, aren’t you a filthy little girl.” You suddenly heard a deep voice from the corner of the room, and you could see the shiny outline of a pair of glasses. You felt your cheeks reddening as you pulled your fingers away from yourself, embarrassed at being caught in such a private moment.
“James?” You gasped, sitting up, your hair falling to your face.
“You were thinking about me weren’t you?” His features started to morph into clarity.
“How…?” The next thing you knew, you looked down, and your camisole and panties were gone as you were laying down on your bed without anything to cover you.
You tried to move your limbs, but it was as if there was an invisible rope binding them onto your mattress. You looked up, and gasped to see James also wasn’t wearing anything either. He had taken his position in front of your bed, standing in front of it, and he was stroking himself. You were mesmerized by the way his hand slid up and down his hard shaft and the grunts that would come out of his mouth at every other stroke.
“Oh, James. I want your delicious cock! I can’t stop thinking about you!”
You were unable to control your mouth as you found yourself moaning those sentences out loud. You gasped, feeling mortified.
“Aww…” James frowned, feigning empathy. “You poor little slut. You couldn’t help yourself could you? Having all these filthy thoughts about me while I was married. You were a good girl, holding yourself back. But now you feel free don’t you? Free to take me? You’re ready to be a little slut.”
“Please! I’m sorry!” You couldn’t believe he would insinuate something like that. You had not once dared to feel happy about Lily’s death and claim James all for yourself. You would’ve hurt your friendship with Harry, and you would’ve been guilty of feeling like you were replacing his mother.
“You’ve been such a good little girl. Don’t you just want to give in?” James brushed his thumb over your bottom lip. It was as if there was something controlling you, making you unable to resist sucking on his thumb.
You looked into his eyes as he was smirking. He pulled out his thumb with a plop.
“I promise you, it’ll feel really good.” You shivered as he caressed your cheek. “I know that I’m hungry to feast on that delicious looking pussy you’re showing me.”
“Make me feel good, James!” You screamed, and you felt his warm tongue slide up along your inner lips before taking one of them in his mouth and sucking on it.
You released a loud moan that was straight out of those Muggle porno films you had found stashed in Sirius’ home that you watched without his knowledge.
His lips let go of your pussy before he moved onto your face. There, you found yourselves with your lips locked onto each other’s.
You didn’t understand what was happening as you felt like James’ lips were on every sensitive area of your body when his face was right in front of you. You felt a warm, wet sucking sensation on both of your nipples, making you arch your back and moan into his mouth.
Before you knew it, you felt his cock probing at your entrance. You stayed in your position, panting and moaning around him, overwhelmed and drunk on the pleasure he was feeding you. There was tension that started to build inside your core which began to build more and more pressure inside of you.
You were about to scream as you opened your eyes and were greeted by the sight of your bedroom which was empty of anybody else besides you. You were left with disappointment at the orgasm that died down inside of you with your waking breath.
You gasped at the familiar ache between your thighs accompanied by a warm wetness inside your panties.
If you couldn’t finish the job in your dream, you could at least do yourself a favor by doing whatever you could do to pleasure yourself.
You pushed the feeling of guilt that had come up in your dream to the back of your mind while your fingers found their way inside your panties.
You were so wet from your dream last night that it was easy for your finger to frantically slide up, down, and between your inner lips. You felt a wave of pleasure crash over you immediately as your middle finger applied the right amount of pressure on your clit while rubbing it. You came inside your panties while moaning and screaming James’ name.
As fast as your orgasm wore off, guilt took the place of pleasure. Tears started to form in your eyes at the realization of what you had done. Maybe you were the filthy slut that James from your dreams said you were.
You didn't know how long u have been in these stupid woods feels like forever Tho you and your friends were going to go camp in an old cabin your friend Benji found he said he supposable haunted by and man-eating sprit at least that's what he heard from an amative America he met awhile back. they man told him how once and couple lived on the mountain and how the lady there feels in love with a sprit. when the man found out he and when out to kill the creature but whet missing and was never found the lady in her grief cursed the sprit to never live the cabin and the forest the surrounds it in the end, she took her own life.

Training With Valorant (Valorant X Reader// Part 2)
Name: Y/N
Class: Radiant
Callsign - Nomad
You and Valorant had a bit of a rocky start, but once you joined up with them they quickly became a second family to you. The ability you had, control of radiant energy and even transforming yourself into it, came in handy for the protocol. The only issue was you needed some training to better fit with the team.
(If you like it, follow for Part 3!)
(This from Infamous Second Son)
Harbor
Sun rays crept in to the cafeteria as you and some of the other agents sat around eating breakfast, chatting, and prepping for the day
Harbor came in and sat across from you, squeezing in next to Gekko. Giving Gekko a quick greeting, he turned to you
“Y/N, you and I are going on a mission in a couple of days. We should meet up and go over some strategies when we have some time.”
“Sure, I have some time in the afternoon.”
“Perfect, I’ll see you in the shooting range for some drills.”
When you entered the commons, Harbor was already waiting to take you to the training range. He and you walked into the portal to the Range, and found yourselves in the plaza
You looked down at the dizzying height, but felt a strong hand grab your shoulder
“Don’t look down Y/N, besides, your training is over here.”
Harbor led you to a building that had been modified into a shooting range. He tossed you a pair of earbuds and handed you a rifle
“I’m going to start up the bots Y/N. Aim for their heads and do your best!” he smiled
A few moments later a training dummy appeared, and you got to work
Your initial shots were alright, landing on its head before it was replaced by more copies of itself
Matching the speed at which they appeared, you targeted them with as much precision as you could
Then you missed
And started to miss more and more
Once the training had finished, you weren’t satisfied with your score. Harbor returned to you pacing angrily
“I take it you feel like you could’ve done better?”
“Yes, I was doing so well at the start but I started missing.”
“That’s normal Y/N, you probably got overwhelmed and couldn’t concentrate. It happens to the best of us.”
“I’ve never seen it happen to you though.”
“Well I do have years of experience, but I can give you some tips. Have something you can concentrate on to stay focused.”
“Like what? We’re going to be in the middle of a gunfight.”
“Personally, I start to focus on my breathing. It makes it easier to ground myself, let’s run through it together.”
Harbor sat you down and began to run through breathing exercises with you. When you closed your eyes and inhaled, it helped a lot of the doubt go away
“Let’s see what you can do now Nomad.” Harbor handed you a Vandal with a fresh magazine loaded in
The second time was a lot better, even with Harbor watching. He would offer praise when you kept up with the bots appearing or took a moment to breathe
“Excellent work Y/N! I think you’re even better than Gekko, but don’t let him know I said that.” Harbor pointed at your score
“The breathing helped, I’m glad you shared it with me. But do you really think I’m going to be ready for missions?”
“There’s not a doubt in my mind that you’re ready, Y/N.”
Viper
“Nomad, you and I are going to do some training together.” Viper caught you off guard during your morning routine
“So does that mean we’re going to the gym then?” you asked innocently
“No, we’re going to Venice,” she passed you a defuser, “you’re going to learn how to behave on a mission.”
You met with Viper ahead of time at the portal. You had learned she responded well to people being punctual
She put the notebook she was writing in back in the pocket of her lab coat and activated the portal
You stepped through and found Viper had set up a training scenario where you would have to defuse a Spike
“So all I have to do is put this up to the Spike and push the button right?”
“Yes, but it won’t be that easy Y/N.”
“Well I’m just going up against bots right? You’re here to watch.”
Viper smiled and removed her lab coat, revealing she had been wearing her suit underneath
“You have a minute before I plant it, after that you have about 45 seconds to defuse it. I won’t go easy on you either, so don’t hold back.”
She disappeared into the ruins of the building as you gathered the guns she left for you. A single Frenzy and a Marshal.
The sound of a digital alert gave you a startle as the training began
You paced along the wall with the Frenzy drawn, noticing that the Spike’s beeping was growing closer
A shotgun blasted the wall in front of you, sending you back along the hallway. A bot was just around the corner to enter the main room
You sparked radiant power through your hand and rounded the corner. You sent a barrage of energy through its core
Before you could react, a green wall of mist cut your vision of the rest of the space. Viper had bisected the room, and bots began to close in
Two, armed with Bulldogs, approached you while letting bullets loose at you. Thinking quickly, you dove for cover
“You only have 30 seconds now Y/N,” Viper’s voice echoed, “What are you going to do?”
It was too much, you were going to lose and it was eating you up inside
“Don’t let me down Y/N.” Viper taunted
You weren’t going to disappoint her, and readied another charge of energy
This time you aimed it downward, and sent a wave pulsing through the ground. It erupted at the feet of the bots, and suspended them in the air
You pulled your Marshall and put them down
Viper sat behind the wall, watching the Spike with a shotgun ready. Her Toxin Orb was ready and cloaking her presence
A foot stepped inside the cloud and Viper readied a shot
You knew she had to be watching the Spike but knew she would stay away from the open because you had your rifle
Then the obvious hit you
You unleashed a blast of energy towards the Spike and blew Viper into the wall she was skulking by
You jumped up to the Spike and began defusing it. Viper shakily got up to her feet and reached for the shotgun
She aimed directly at you, and seeing as you had a single second left to defuse the Spike you accepted your fate
The Spike deactivated
“You were willing to die to defuse it Y/N, I admire that.” Viper emptied the shells and grabbed the Spike
“I think that you’re ready to work with me, but don’t take risks like that. I don’t want to explain to Brimstone that the newest agent got themselves killed.”
“I wouldn’t worry about that, if you’re backing me up then I don’t think I’ll have to take those kinds of risks.”
Deadlock
“Y/N, we are going to do some training together to see if you can handle using your abilities with the rest of us.”
Deadlock approached you after the morning meeting before the agents shuffled off to their respective posts
“I thought I was supposed to train with Astra?” you asked
“Brimstone thought it would be better if we worked together. Something about wanting Radiants and non-Radiants to train together.”
It was true, Brimstone had been pushing for the Radiant agents to rely less on raw power and for the humans to better counter Radiant abilities
Deadlock had been averse to some of the Radiant agents, not unfriendly but always on edge when more powerful agents were active
The exception was you, but you were never sure if she was being kind or if she was keeping an eye on you to learn weaknesses
You lost yourself in thought as you adjusted your gear and dressed for training. The protocol had given you free reign to pick tactical wear but let you maintain your style
“Are you ready?” a voice asked from behind. You nodded to Deadlock before being led by her
“Deadlock, where are we going? The gym is back there.” you pointed as she took you to the portal
You both found yourselves in the ruins of Venice. Deadlock gave you a second to acquaint yourself
“We’re so high up…” you muttered to yourself. Wind whipped around you and cold from the altitude gave you a slight chill
“I prefer it to the headquarters, now we should begin.” Deadlock adjusted her coat and pointed at a ruined cathedral
“This will be simple Y/N, just defuse the spike before it goes off.” Deadlock passed you a defuser, “but remember you’re coming to me. I won’t make it easy.”
You loaded a Sheriff and Judge, then made your way through the buildings towards the church
You could almost hear the beeping of the Spike before a bullet flew past you. Bots had been placed in the surrounding building
It was a straight road to the cathedral, but the buildings had nests of bots hiding and firing from windows
As you backed into cover inside a ruined shop you caught a look at something small against the north wall. A sonic sensor
Deadlock was counting on you backing away, and probably had the bots ready to come in the second the sensor was tripped. It gave a you an idea
Radiant power coursed through you, and you let out a blast to trigger the sensor. It blew up, and you moved to the second floor
Bots swarmed into the shop, a crew of three holding rifles. Their programming told them to target movement but they had no visible targets
In an instant, you punched the second floor downward, flattening the bots under the ceiling
You stood on the concrete chunk and looked down at the crushed remains as they sparked. Only one bot had escaped but a single shell put it out of commision
“Not bad Y/N, but to PREDICTABLE!” Deadlock yelled as her Annihilation wire bounced from the cathedral to your cover
In an instant fibers cocooned whatever they could, constricting around any purchase. Once complete they spooled back towards Deadlock
“I thought you would have done better Y/-” Deadlock realized she had made a crucial error
You had switched places with the bot you hit with the Judge. Deadlock barely had enough time to react before a geyser of radiant power suspended her in the air
Taking you opportunity, you defused the Spike while she was stuck floating on the particles drifting around her
Once you had finished, you dropped her down gently and helped her regain her balance
“That was clever Y/N, I had expected you to fall for the Sensor but you turned it around for your benefit.”
“So do you think I can come with you on a mission then?”
“You can hold your own. I look forward to working as a team Y/N.”
Skye
“You’re getting along well ain’t ya?” Skye greeted you as you finished up training with the barbell curls Brimstone recommended for you
“It’s been an adjustment, but I like being here more than being on the run.” you answered
“Good to hear,” she picked the barbell and set it back without a second thought, “just so you know we have a training today. Just you and me!”
“Does that mean you guys are giving the test to see if I can cut it in the field?”
“Yeah, but you’ll ace it. Don’t expect me to go easy Y/N, or should I call you Nomad?”
Both of you met up but rather than going to Ascent or the Range, Skye took you outdoors to the island’s jungle
“I have here a Spike,” she pointed to a device she carried on her back with both thumbs, “you are gonna defuse it with this.” she passed you the defuser gun
“Well it doesn’t sound too difficult.” upon you saying this Skye smiled mischievously
“Don’t be so sure Y/N, I want to make sure you can handle yourself. Plus my tiger’s been itchin’ for something to play with.”
The beast appeared next to Skye with a wagging tail
You both put distance between each other and started the drill. You readied a Stinger and Classic, then made your way through the jungle
A heavy slam reverberated through the foliage, alerting you to the Spike being activated. You moved faster and came across a small stream
Bullets streaked by from the bushes. You frantically hid behind a boulder near the stream
Growls from the jungle and swift footsteps broke your concentration. The tasmanian tiger was on your trail
It was too much, the beast tracking you down would catch you in a moment and the bots would close in
No, you steadied yourself and took a breath. Skye said you would pass, and you weren’t going to let her down
You knew she was counting on you to stay in cover, which made you think about the boulder. Radiant energy gathered around you and suffused with your palm
A simple push, backed with the force of TNT, launched the boulder forward into the underbrush taking out bots and serving as moving cover
The tiger from Trailblazer was still active, and dashed towards you. It lunged across the stream
You pulled the trigger on the Stinger, bullets ripping the constructed animal apart. The open line of sight made it impossible for the beast to catch you off guard
Screeches cut through the air and you quickly covered your eyes. Hawks flew through the air and burst with light
You rushed through the trees towards the Spike while trying to keep from being flashed
Skye jumped out from near the Spike and took aim. You were ready, and shot back before she had the chance
She got knocked back, and you quickly acted to defuse the Spike. As soon as it went silent, you took a breath
“Nice work Y/N! I thought for sure I had you with the hawks but you surprised me!” Skye dusted herself off
“You said I would pass, I didn’t feel like proving you wrong.”
“Of course! Now we have a bit of a trek back but we can take a detour and hike a bit in celebration.”
“Sounds like a good idea!”
Cypher
You had finished up your morning chores when you got a message from your phone
Cypher was requesting that you meet him in his surveillance room, which was odd considering he rarely let people venture in
As soon as you reached the door, it opened up and the masked man invited you in warmly
“Ah Y/N, I have such great news for you!” he excitedly sat back in his chair and offered you a seat
“Why did I have to come here? You usually meet me or send me a file.”
“This is special, for our ears only too. Brimstone wants to test you in a couple of weeks to see if you’re ready, but I want to try sooner.”
“So we’re going behind Brim’s back and testing me now?”
“If you think you can beat me and defuse a Spike without backup.” Cypher narrowed his eyes and lounged back
“When can we start?”
About an hour later you were strapping the final piece of body armor on before putting the clothes you wore over it
Cypher had picked Ascent, or at least a floating island near it for training. There was a long path to a fountain, nearby there was a few market stalls
“Don’t let me down Y/N. I know you can do this but I am going to make sure you’re ready for deployment.” Cypher stepped back into the grounds and disappeared
You pulled a Phantom from its sling and started walking towards the sound of a Spike being planted
Stopping quickly, you spotted a trip wire and knelt down to see where it was anchored. You saw it was stuck to a crate at an angle, and destroyed the gadget
A dart struck your shoulder, and you swung around to try and spot Cypher’s camera. Bots began closing in from behind and you ran towards the fountain
A Cyber Cage blocked your path, surrounding you in static and holographic smoke
If you exited the cage Cypher could attack, he had stuck you with a dart and knew you were hiding. The bots would attack if you didn’t leave and had an easy line of sight
It was almost too much handle, but you knew Cypher had faith in you and that carried you through
He knew where you were, and so did the bots. You came up with a plan in record time and pulled the dart from your shoulder
You took a moment, and suffused your body with radiant power. Your body turned to pure energy and you phased through the ground
The bots fired at empty air, and Cypher was momentarily puzzled. He didn’t leave his cover and instead checked his camera
Behind, the fountain contorted and groaned. Cypher looked up and watched as the water inside the fountain stopped and came flowing out as steam
Your body was almost pure energy, boiling the water in the fountain wasn’t hard at all. You picked off the bots in the fog one by one
Cypher grinned beneath his mask and called out to you, trying to draw you out
You ignored him and went straight for the Spike, but you had forgotten about the alert noise it made when being defused
You worked quickly and as soon as you were defusing came face to face with Cypher’s Ghost aimed at your forehead
The man steadied his hand and then put it down
“You passed, even if you would’ve died after defusing it.” he motioned to the now inactive Spike
“I know, but at least you’ll be watching over me next time.” you picked up the Spike and set it on your back
“Y/N, I always keep an eye on you.”
Reyna
“Y/N, we’re going to put your skills to the test. I won’t hold anything back and you shouldn’t either.” Reyna had surprised you in the commons
“Is this the exam for going into missions?” you asked cautiously
“Si, I suppose so. Brimstone asked me personally to make sure you were ready.”
“I’m more than ready.”
“Such confidence Y/N. I’m going to enjoy making you swallow your words and your pride.”
Reyna was especially ruthless when she could get away with it, and Brimstone had just given her a pass
You and her met at the portal to the Range in the evening. The sunset over the floating islets was stunning, but Reyna quickly demanded your attention
“It’s simple. I have the Spike, you have the defuser. If you fail you die and if you succeed,” she paused to laugh, “you won’t last long enough to beat me.”
Reyna had settled on using the ruins of an old plaza as her proving ground. It was surrounded by columns and had a belltower at the far end
Your provided gear was the same as Reyna’s: a Vandal and a Classic
Taking a moment to chamber a round in the Classic, you psyched yourself up and started to approach the plaza
Glancing from the entrance to the plaza, you could see a few crates covered in tarp and the spike beneath the belltower
You began to move in when you realized it would be a horrible idea to attack head on. Reyna was counting on a fight to win, so you’d have to be smarter
Making your way around the side of the plaza, you climbed up the buildings to get a clear line of sight
Sure enough, there were bots hidden on the second floor of the buildings and in the belltower
You couldn’t spot Reyna, but knowing she’d be near the Spike kept you confident she wouldn’t be an issue
Aiming carefully, you shot the belltower bot in the head from your vantage point on the roof across from it
The other bots opened fire as you slid down the roof and took cover behind the pillars. You overloaded radiant power into your hand and blasted back a wave of energy
Bots flew through the air and crashed onto the ground where quick shots put them past their warranty
“Que impresiva Y/N, but you’ll find that I won’t be as easy to kill.” Reyna’s voice came from behind you
You ducked out of the way as bullets impacted the column. You ran across the plaza to the nearest crate and looked back
A searing purple eye dominated your sight. You realized Reyna had to be moving closer if she was covering the front with her Leer
Pain shot through your leg. Reyna had managed to wound your ankle with a well placed shot
It all made sense to you suddenly: she wanted to hunt you for as long as she could and wait out the Spike timer
This gave you an idea, and you fired in Reyna’s direction blindly to suppress her advance
Reyna hid behind a column, her violet eyes barely giving her position away. She caught sight of a trail of blood leading to the belltower
“Me pone desilusionado Y/N.” she remarked as she stepped into the tower. She noticed the trail leading to the side and fired as she rounded the corner
Instead of catching you off guard, the trail had led her directly into a trap. You had bled long enough to make trail but cauterized the wound with energy from your finger tip
“Sorry to disappoint, Reyna.” you said smugly before giving her a quick shot to her body armor
You finished up defusing the Spike walked back confidently to Reyna with the defuser and Spike in tow
“What did you say earlier about me and eating my words? I can’t seem to remember.” you playfully helped Reyna up
“As much as I want to say I went easy on you, I admit you did well.” Reyna adjusted her armor
“Good enough to pass?”
“Por cierto, yes.”
“Better than you?”
“Callate Y/N, don’t make me leave you all by yourself on our mission.”
Neon
“Hey Y/N!” Neon waved at you from across the commons before racing over to you
“So Brimstone put me on a mission with you and told me that I was supposed to help train you!” her foot tapped against the ground in nervous excitement
“What are we going to be doing together?” you asked
“You have to defuse a Spike without any help from the other agents.”
“Wait, then why are going to be there?”
“Because I’m going to be the one guarding the Spike. It’s going to be fun, but seriously do your best. I want you to come along on the next mission!”
Neon sprinted off to get ready and you took inventory of the challenge before you. You met with her about an hour later with your gear
You had picked your favorite loadout, a Vandal and a Sheriff. Neon had with her a Frenzy and a Bulldog
Both of you walked through the portal to the Range. As you exited into the floating islands, you looked out at the open sky
“Come on Y/N, we’ll have plenty of time to relax when we’re done.” Neon took you to a street dotted in rubble that crossed a now drained canal
A few gondolas were stranded up by the dock and the street had a few alleyways that intersected around it
Neon did some stretches before sending off some bots to go ready up. She walked up to you with
“Kaya mo yan Y/N!” Neon embraced you before dashing away
The Spike countdown started up, and you started your assault on the bomb site
Instantly, bots hidden near the alleys and near the riverbed started shooting, and you dove towards the nearest wall
As you rested, you heard the electrified steps of Neon approaching. You knew she would be aggressive but you hadn’t counted on how quickly she’d attack
She slid by and sprayed bullets from the automatic pistol she carried but you countered with your own barrage
Recovering as quickly as she attacked, Neon sped down an alley and broke line of sight
You took a breath and glanced over your shoulder, a few bots were approaching your position
Repositioning further towards the gondolas, you shot through the bots. Rushing steps and thundered down the alleys
Neon leapt from the alley and fired in your direction before running into the next alley. She sped around the backstreets and fired on you
It was overwhelming, and you alternated between suppressing fire at the bots before trying to dodge Neon’s attacks
Suddenly it was clear, she had picked the alleys because she could use hit and run tactics freely and keep you from taking ground
That gave you an idea
Neon came running towards you and got ready to pull the trigger on her Frenzy. She had just lunged out of the alley when she stopped suddenly
The bots were completely smashed and across the dock she could see the Spike. If the you hadn’t made it there, you had to be crossing the dried canal
She dashed into the riverbed and landed on the deep mud covering it. She looked around before unsticking her shoes
“Huh, where the hell is Y/N?” Neon wondered before you crawled from your hiding place
Taking aim at her from under a gondola, you made eye contact and she got ready to sprint
The muddy terrain didn’t let her run though, and she had fallen for your plan. You tagged her in the shoulder and climbed up towards the Spike
By the time Neon finished getting to the Spike, you were sitting comfortably with it on a stranded gondola
“You wanted me to get stuck in the mud, didn’t you Y/N.” Neon strode up to you and sat across
“Yeah, I know you’d chase me down there so I waited for you. Sorry you had to get your running shoes dirty though.”
“It’s okay, it’s a small price to pay for you passing the test!”
“I think we’ll make a good team, Neon.”
“Magkakasama tayo.” Neon nearly crushed you with an excited hug. Your hair stood on end the whole time
Iso
“It’s training day Y/N, gonna show us if you’re ready to do missions?” Iso asked while you were cleaning your gun
You finished adjusting the iron sights and checked the stability. You loaded a magazine in and loaded the chamber
“Iso, I’ve been ready to go all morning!” you smirked and took your gun with you
“You’re confident Y/N, but don’t let it go to your head. You need to be cool headed, you’re going to have to fight me to pass.” Iso readied his Sheriff
“Nobody told me I’d have to duel you, I thought it was just bots.”
“There’s also this,” he handed you a defuser, “you’re going to need to defuse a Spike without anyone’s help.”
It was a lot to do all at once, but you stomached your fear and joined Iso as he walked through the portal to the Range
As you walked out of the shimmering barrier, you saw that Iso had converted part of the shooting range
Instead of the usual building being for bots and target practice, he had added in walls and cover
Wooden planks, sandbags, and steel plating had been arranged to make an elaborate testing ground for your final exam
“You and I will fight here. Your mission is to defuse the Spike by any means necessary, so don’t hold back.”
“Understood.”
Iso began walking to his starting point and let you move to yours
“Good luck Y/N. Remember to stay focused.” Iso spoke as he put his headphones in
The weapon you brought with you was a Guardian and a Sheriff. You were going to have to aim carefully, just like Iso taught you
Lights in the Range switched on inside the building and beeping started from the other end
You made your way into the narrow corridors and jumped from cover to cover. Bots began to slink into the maze with you
One would tried to ambush you from behind while another jumped in front of you. Rolling to the side you tagged the first one with a Guardian shot
The second bot fell to your ability, and was thrown into the air with a whirl of energy. You shot it midair before moving on
A veil of purple hexagons passed through the wall closest to you, coating you in a violet glow
Shots punched through the wooden planks and you hid behind the steel portions of it. A bot stepped from the shadows during the onslaught and fired
A bullet grazed your cheek, but you shot back with greater accuracy. Its head exploded and you cleaned the blood from your face
You began to sneak forward, but your foot slid onto a lattice of glowing hexagons
Iso’s voice echoed throughout his pocket dimension
“It’s you or me Y/N, show me what you can do.”
The partitions were up, but you knew you had only a second before they dropped and you would have to fight
You could feel the sweat pooling around your hands, breathing begin to tighten, and heat flush your face
“Be cool headed.” you whispered, sticking to Iso’s advice
You dropped the Guardian and pulled your Sheriff. While waiting, you took a breath and got ready
The walls dropped and you and Iso fired simultaneously. For a single second, it felt like the bullets would collide
Your shot landed precisely in Iso’s sternum, and he released his hold on you. His shot had been too far off and only hit your leg
Limping over to the Spike, you unholstered a defuser and got to work. The Spike clicked and began to fold into itself
“That was a good shot Y/N.” Iso strode up behind you and leaned on a wall
“I had one of the best teachers.”
“Oh?”
“Your advice about being focused is why I was able to aim so well. I couldn’t have beaten you without your own advice.”
“I guess I’ll have to stop giving you pointers.”
“Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of things to correct me on when we start doing missions together.”
“I wouldn’t underestimate you, Y/N. I certainly won’t do it again.” Iso helped keep you steady as you made your way back to the headquarters

NEXT PART
A year after their wedding, Prince Aenys and Lady Alyssa were blessed with the birth of their first child; a beautiful little girl whom they named Aenelys and who would become the new heir of the Iron Throne.
When Aenelys Targaryen was born, Maegor and Visenya were the only people in the realm who did not celebrate. The bitterness in their faces was quite hard to hide as the eldest son of Aegon the Conqueror introduced the sweet princess in the family.
Aenelys was born a healthy little girl. Many people claimed that the small princess has been blessed with the features of a true Valyrian; her eyes were lilac, her skin pale and soft, and her hair was white as snow. Others said that the Gods had given her the gift of beauty, as everyone would drool over her even as a newborn.
Maegor, of nine years of age, was completely mad with the birth of his niece, for now he was a step further from the Iron Throne. He was consumed by jealousy, same as his mother Visenya, because even her grandsire, Aegon, was leaving Maegor aside for her. Thanks to that, Aenelys grew up being a little spoiled. Even when her brother, Aegon, was born three years later, they still would give her everything she asked.
As the years passed, Aenelys prove herself as a wise and delicate young lady, and her beauty was claimed to be out of this world. By the time she turned twelve, she was loved by all, including the small folk, who would celebrate her name day every year. Maegor saw this as a threat. He would grow jealous of her with every year that passes.
Until he decided that he was going to break her. He wanted to ruin that little girl.
His plan started as soon as she turned thirteen, the age he had when he was forced to marry Lady Ceryse Hightower. Maegor was twenty-and-two years of age when he first caught his niece’s eye. He showed himself as someone approachable, as someone she could trust. And it was easier than he thought.
Aenelys soon would run towards him to talk about her problems, to find comfort in his strong arms. She, of course, had no idea what his intentions truly were, as she was too innocent to even think the worst of him. Her parents, the now King and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, had warned her about the dubious intentions of her beloved uncle but she just pretended to listen… She was growing fond of him.
Then Aenelys turned fourteen, and Maegor called her to the Council Room where he was seated on the chair where her father usually sat. Aenelys ignored that detail and immediately smiled when she saw him, her doe eyes staring at him while the blush in her cheeks were proof of her shyness around him. She knew she was starting to see him as a man, and her body was reacting to it without her mind’s consent.
“Uncle…” She softly spoke, walking towards him. Maegor smirked seeing her blushed cheeks, he had her right where he wanted. “Did you ask for me?”
“I did, my sweet dove.” He stood up from his chair and grabbed her hands.
The size difference was quite obvious. Maegor, who has been training and gaining muscles since the tender age of seven, was notoriously bigger than his niece in every sense of the word. Aenelys was just like her father, thin and small… weak.
“I have a gift for you.” He claimed, softly pinching her cheek.
“A gift?” Her eyes lit up with excitement as he said those words. Maegor smiled with malice as he saw her reaction.
“Yes, dove.” He nodded.
He shows her a necklace, one that matched with the Conqueror’s crown perfectly. It was black, of Valyrian steel, and with a pendant that carried a small red jewel that shone bright as fire. It was beautiful.
“Oh, Gods, uncle…” She mutters, touching the ruby in the necklace, “it’s gorgeous!”
“Turn it around,” he said.
And she obeyed immediately. Aenelys looked at it with glistening eyes, if she wasn’t in love with him, now she certainly was. On the back there were his initials, a small ‘MT’ graved on the metal. She couldn’t help but smile, seeing it as something innocent; as a kind gesture. But Maegor saw it as if he was claiming her. That necklace would say to everyone that she was his, his property.
It was a way to say to everyone that she belonged to him.
“This is too much, uncle…” She sighed, “thank you so much.”
“No need for that, dove,” he spoke with an odd soft voice. “Now turn around.”
She couldn’t hide her nervousness anymore. As she turned around, holding her silver white hair up some butterflies appeared on her belly, which became even worse as she felt his hands touching her skin. The shivers down her spine were visibly obvious, and Maegor smiled pleased at her reaction.
“There you go, let me see,” he commanded after he finished. Aenelys turned around and bit her lip shyly. “It looks perfect on you, dove,” he claimed.
He leaned forward towards her, a slow movement that made her hold her breath. He kisses her forehead as he caresses her cheeks with a gentle touch. It felt oddly soft, so careful and delicate. Aenelys giggled in response.
After that day, no one ever saw her without that necklace around her neck. Her father, the King, would suspect that necklace. He never saw the side of it that had Maegor’s initials, for when she showed the present to her parents she decided to omit that part of the gift. Something inside of her told her that it wasn’t a good idea.
Two years later, Aenelys became her uncle’s loyal companion.
Lady Ceryse would be long forgotten by him as his attention was all over his niece at this point. They would spend entire days together, doing races with their dragons, Maegor teaching her how to fight with a sword or just the two of them walking through the gardens. And that caused many rumors about the nature of their relationship around the Red Keep.
When those words reached the Queen’s ears, she was disgusted by it. Her daughter was still a maiden, but everyone thought otherwise thanks to how close she was with her uncle, and how much time they would spend together… and by themselves. She needed to do something before it became worse.
So she ran to speak with her husband.
“We must wed her… is either that or send your brother to Oldtown, to his wife’s hometown.” She demanded to her husband. “People are saying she lost her maidenhead with Maegor! We must do something before it is too late.”
“Wed her to whom?” Aenys asked, calm and serene as always.
“She is the princess… if we announce that she is looking for someone to marry, we will have a line with Lords that would be pleased to take her hand.”
“Aenelys might not like that idea…” Aenys warned her, “we know our daughter, she is sweet but when she’s not given what she’s asking, she can be a nightmare.”
“Then what do we do, huh?” Queen Alyssa looked at him with despair. “If we keep waiting, mayhaps your brother will actually deflower our child!”
“Maegor is many things, he might be impulsive and reckless… but he would never do harm to her, he loves her.” He justified.
“I see the way that man looks at my sweet Aenelys, he’s a menace.” Alyssa muttered, “If we are in a hurry we can marry her to Aegon.”
“Our son?”
“Aegon the Conqueror married his two sisters, we shall keep the tradition and marry Aenelys with our Aegon.” Alyssa proposed. “She is a dutiful girl, she will not complain, and she loves her brother.”
“It’s a nice match, wife… I might give you that.” Aenys accepted. “If you want her to be married, then let her get married. She’s out of age, it is time.”
Queen Alyssa nodded, satisfied with her husband’s final word. But even though they thought their conversation was private, they were terribly wrong.
Maegor had suspected of the Queen’s intentions for a long time, so he would take advantage of his mother’s spiders to spy the conversations of Alyssa, knowing that she had the intention of getting Aenelys away from him.
When the small child came to his side in order to inform him what he had heard, Maegor froze. His jaw clenched and his hands became fists. An odd feeling appeared on his gut as his eyes darkened and the anger took over his body, he was soon fuming while his mind traveled at the speed of light trying to come up with an idea to know what he was supposed to do now.
There was something certain, though; he would not allow this. Aenelys was his, the necklace around her neck was proof enough of that.
Some people may call you crazy, which is completely understandable but how could you not be a little crazy for being in love with this girl? She seemed perfect, sweet, quiet, put together, knew how to take a stand for herself… The kind of girl who would put you in your place if necessary, your kind of girl. You always wanted to try and talk to her after class or even in class but- you just couldn’t, that little interaction all those weeks ago was all you could manage for a little while- which was pretty sad for anyone who was watching from the sidelines, but you didn’t care- maybe watching from afar was better than actually trying to do anything and accidentally ruining it.
But of course, some people wouldn’t let that slide- “You're STILL not talking to her?! Not even saying hi and bye in classes or the hallways?!-“ Your friend screamed through the phone speakers, making you jerk the phone away from your ear- You two had been friends for a while even though neither of you had even met in person, you two were like best friends. “It’s not even that serious-“ “IT IS!-“ she squealed, making you lower your phone again, rolling your eyes with a soft scoff before placing the phone near your ear again “Your insane.” “You're insane for letting opportunities like that slip everyday!” She hissed through the phone as you chuckled softly “Piper it’ll happen when it needs to…” “Well it needs to happen sooner Y/N, i'm getting hella inpatient. If you don’t make a move yourself I’m gonna fly my ass over and MAKE something happen!-""OKAY BYE PIPER I HAVE WORK-“ You hung up the phone and sighed, rolling your eyes before groaning. You knew Piper was right about you needing to make a move but you just weren’t sure if it was the right time.
You sat up on your bed, rubbing your head before setting your phone down on your mattress and getting up and walking to your closet grabbing a random shirt off its hanger and slipping out of your school clothes and into the older shirt for work. You walked over to your dresser and grabbed a pair of shorts before grabbing your phone off your bed and checked the time- you were late. “SHIT-“ you quickly shoved your phone into your pocket and stumbled over your feet, hitting the floor with a light thud- groaning out of pain and frustration before grabbing your shoes and pulling them on. Sure you were terrible at keeping track of time, courtesy of Piper- but you knew how to hurry when necessary. You rush out of the door and find yourself running half a mile and bursting through the back door of your work- panting heavily as you let your head hang, before looking up and meeting the eyes of one of your favorite coworkers- Sam.
“Geez what’s got you practically dying?-“ Sam questioned with a small chuckle as you groaned.
“I was running late- I had to run over here again…” You mumbled as Sam gave you a small sad smile.
“If you keep showing up late you know Rachel is gonna fire you right?-“ Sam questioned as she set down the box she was carrying and walked over to you and tried to help you fix the mess of yourself you had made in your hurry to get over there.
“Yeah, but Piper kept me longer than I was expecting-“ You responded as you face scrunched at Sam licking her finger and wiping away some of your leftover mascara that had smeared, earning a chuckle from her.
“She seems to do that a lot.” Sam replied calmly, as you gave a light nod, putting your hair up in a lazy bun and sighing softly.
“She’s my best friend Sam, we live too far apart for me to just not talk to her one day-“
“Your being too sweet.” Sam replied as you roll your eyes.
“We’re practically married okay? I have to give her some sort of attention.” You retorted with a small whine, as you clipped on your name tag and put on the stupid apron you were required to wear.
“Yeah yeah, since you were late you can go reorganize the shoes for me.” Sam said as she picked up the boxes she had put down earlier.
You almost wished you didn’t run all the way from your apartment to work- you hated reorganizing the shoes… but you gave Sam a nod and walked out of the employee break room and over to the shoe aisle- your eyes widening in the amount of dread and horror you were feeling. The aisles were in complete disarray, shoes on the floor, shoes mismatched, just about everything that would need to be fixed, needed to be fixed. You groan and swear under your breath before you begin to pick up all the shoes not on the shelves and in their boxes. It was gonna be a long afternoon…
What felt like 3 hours of picking up after all those inconsiderate people you were finally done, sweating a bit but satisfied with yourself. Sam walked past and saw the large smile on your face and snorted softly, walking over to you and placing a hand on your shoulder.
“Surprised you actually did it, looks a lot better.” You gave a nod and continued to smile and your work before turning around to look at Sam.
“I’m gonna go work at the register.” Sam gave a nod as you walked off to the register, flipping up the slab of wood that closed off the register to customers and took a seat at an open register, sighing softly. Most of the customers were manageable for the rest of the day, you were getting ready to leave for the day but one woman walked up to your register to set down her basket, you turned to look at her before biting at the insides of your cheeks but you began to scan her items. Down to the last few things you stumbled onto an unmarked bag, raising a brow as you grabbed it, looking on every side and even on the inside of the bag for a price tag but you couldn’t find it. You looked over to the computer at your side and looked up the bag’s brand- it wasn't there, which either meant it was new in stock hadn't been put out or she had put her bag in by accident. But it couldn’t be a accident-
“Ma’am I can’t check this out for you…” You turned to look at her, as her brows narrowed.
“Yes you can!” She hissed, her voice was extremely bitter and made you flinch back a bit.
“There’s no price tag, and I can’t find it in our stock…” you mumbled, making the woman even anger, raising her voice even more.
“Then just give it to me!” “That’s against our policy, you went into the back and grabbed this bag. I'm going to have to ask you to leave…” You whimpered.
The woman seemed even more furious as she slammed her fist on the counter “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!-“ She growled, you were going to respond but she kept going. This continued for the next few minutes before Rachel, your manager stepped in. Luckily she was able to get the woman to leave but you weren’t able to leave early which was incredibly unfair. But you had to suck it up, you were muttering to yourself and cussing out Rachel for making you stay as you set the bag under the counter then-
“Hello?-“ that sweet and familiar voice rang out, you immediately shot up- slamming your head on the bottom of the counter that sat the register on top, making you groan in pain as you lifted up completely- rubbing your head. Meeting Tara’s eyes, ones filled with worry for your voiced pain.
“Oh my gosh, are you okay?!-“ She yelped as you tried to laugh off the pain, wincing at the new bruise forming on your head.
“Yeah I'm okay… uh- if you could just hand me your basket I’ll get that checked out for you..!” You nervously squeaked up, Tara nodding and handing you her basket. You took out the various pairs of sweats, hoodies, crop tops, and a bunch of other clothes and scanned all of them, your eyes trying to peer up to look up Tara but your mind refused to allow it. You finished scanning her items and bagged them up before leaning over to the register and reading the number out loud for her-
“135.45$, Uh cash or credit?” You looked up from the register and offered her a smile, which she returned to your surprise and spoke up with a soft giggle.
“Credit, my sister works here so I should get a 15% discount.” Your eyes widened a bit as you turned the card reader to her for her to stick her card in.
“Oh really? W-well who’s your sister?” You questioned as curiosity ran through your voice, as you watched her hand move over to Sam- your eyes widening.
“Sam, you know her right?” You glanced back to Tara as she was smiling at you, making you give a nod.
“Y-yeah!- she’s a good friend of mine actually!” Tara hummed in response as you grabbed her recipient for her, looking for some way to try and keep the conversation going.
“Say, you're in Film Study right? We should compare notes sometime, i-i struggle with the class a little bit.” You're lying, you love that class more than anything when it comes to taking note of the small details, but it was an excuse nonetheless. Tara glanced up to you as she grabbed her bags of clothes, shrugging lightly.
“Maybe, I mean it’d be good for both of us.” You tried so hard to hide your smile as you give a nod.
“Yeah! Maybe tomorrow in class or some other time? I get off of work at 6-“
Suddenly she cut you off- “I said maybe.”
You felt like you had overstepped a boundary you didn’t even know existed yet, you kept your smile to try and seem un-bothered but the hurt was clear in your voice.
“O-oh yeah- sorry, Makes sense.” You chuckled as you handed her recipient to her,Tara taking it in her own hand as your fingers grazed her, sending butterflies through your body. You swallow nervously as you get ready to leave for the day, another coworker walking up to take your register before Tara called out to you.
“Hey, maybe isn’t a no. I’ll think about it.” You turned your head slightly as she walked out, a wide smile spreading across your face as you tried to keep yourself from squealing, practically skipping back to the break room. You took off your apron and name tag, stuffing them both in your locker as Sam walked in, making you freeze in your tracks.
“What’s got you all excited?” She scoffed, looking you up and down, as you turned around.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!- anyways I’ve gotta go! See you tomorrow Sammy!” You bolted out the back door, before quickly coming back and grabbing your phone.
“Sorry I forgot this-“ before Sam could even get a word in, you slammed the door again- she didn’t get what sparked your sudden change in attitude but she was sure it was for some good reason. You walked down the street to your apartment, smiling the whole way as you blew up Piper’s phone- sending a text every other second as you tried to get home as quickly as possible. You rush to the elevator of your apartment building and rush in, quickly stepping in as you continue to blow up Piper’s phone, praying to god she hadn’t fallen asleep. As you stepped in your apartment room Piper finally responded, giving you the go ahead to call her- she sounded groggy and pissed off.
“Why did you send me 186 texts….. this better be good-“ she muttered.
“It is! Remember how we were talking about Tara earlier today? Well something happened-“ you were about to drop the bomb that you had gotten a date of sorts with Tara but Piper’s idea of what happened was completely different from what you expected…
“DID YOU TWO FUCK?!-“ She practically screamed as your face flushed a deep red.
“PIPER!-“ You hissed, covering your face with your hands. “WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!-“
