queer headcanons aside, i am a little baffled at the unyielding frustration with the plotline between wednesday and tyler because narratively speaking??? yeah, it makes perfect sense. and it's intriguing in how it fits in with wednesday's character development

wednesday's main arc this season revolves around her unwillingness to be challenged and changed by the people around her. she's determined to leave nevermore as the exact same person she was when she arrived which... besides being unrealistic, is a sort of stubbornness that makes it almost impossible to forge friendships, which require you to compromise with people around you

tyler does not ask anything of her, not really. he accepts her at face value and allows her to take the lead rather than demanding the mutual compromise and change that friendship and other relationships usually entail. he is willing to let her go untouched by him, but for the simple existence of their relationship

certainly, he had his own motivations for this, but it's easy to see why she'd embrace this sort of attention. she barely has to adapt to him, because he's largely adapting and deferring to her even when she makes tiny concessions

of course wednesday continued hanging out with tyler. he's offering her friendship/love for very little in return, and she's still working on learning that all relationships require compromise and willingness to change

she clearly wants friends from the onset, but she's so against compromising in any small way that she neglects to recognize compromise as a key part of building relationships. so yeah. she finds the one person who asks the least of her and rolls with it. because that's where she's at and what she's learning to overcome throughout this season
