☕️ Gen 6 aka X/Y was robbed by the poor storyline and the lack of focus on elements what could've been so good to have in the main plotline (from @multiplelivesinline)

send me a ☕️ and an opinion (popular or unpopular) and i’ll say whether i agree or disagree

Gen 6 was very much a transitional generation, like Gen 4 was between the GBA and the DS and Gen 8 turned out to be for the 3DS and the Switch, and if there's one thing in common between XY DP and SwSh is that these games were ROUGH but while Gen 4 had Platinum and Gen 8 had the DLCs to smooth things out the closest thing XY had was the anime which was a good season by anime standards but no match for what a full third game would be so the version of Kalos left in people's minds was the undercooked one

But at the same time I feel like Kalos is one of those regions people love to shit on for the sake of having something to hate the arguments against it are very circular and all boil down to oh the concepts are underdeveloped and don't get enough time to shine but at the same time the fandom has this weird idea where people will literally get angry if you develop the Kalos cast (other than Serena Lysandre and AZ) because otherwise they can't act as punching bags

Like my favorite region is Sinnoh it's a very popular region with very popular characters but I'm not gonna act like it's the pinnacle of storytelling that Gen 6 can never measure up to and the less said about Gen 1 fans talking shit about Gen 6 the better

There's a lot that can be done with the XY cast other than just Lysandre Is A God Among Men Serena (because no one writes protag Calem) Is A Camera With Legs That Only Exists To See Him In The Most Sympathetic Light AZ Is A Sad Grandpa And Everyone Else Sucks™️ especially to make the games' themes more prevalent which is one of the biggest things that drew me to rival!Calem as a muse because he is an underused character in canon with a rushed arc that could use a fresh coat of paint and gets a completely INSANE treatment by the fandom like people will make literally any excuse to hate him just so they don't have to admit that he's not actually that bad

"calem obviously wants to romance serena and uses the rivalry as an excuse to get close to her even though she's not actually interested" GIRL THE RIVAL WITH ROMANTIC SUBTEXT IS FUCKING SHAUNA MAYBE YOU'RE JUST CUMBRAINED

But other than him there are many other characters I'd like to see getting more attention like Shauna herself because she's reduced to being a dumb girl obsessed with pretty things stereotype but she's actually shown to be a very smart person like with her interest in puzzles her friendship with Clemont and Bonnie and her girlboss moments in Flare HQ which everyone loves to ignore because if you have to admit that Shauna's competent then you have no reason to hate on her

I could rant a lot more but this is getting really long already so part 2 might come Eventually

Naoto pinched the bridge of her nose and threw the stranger a glance. She’d been quietly talking to herself quietly for a while, complaining about how much of a pain it was to deal with adults in the PD who didn’t respect her. Some like Dojima-san did after her brilliant kidnapping plan was over and done with, others chastised her for it. God, did she hate it. Plus, she hadn’t realized that her musings had been heard by someone while walking around the shopping district.

Turning to him, she cleared her throat and instantly used her male tone of voice. She doubted he knew of her true gender already. “I apologize for that. I was merely thinking out loud, but I appreciate the support nonetheless.” She adjusted her cap, nodding. “I don’t believe we’ve met before. My name is Naoto Shirogane, I’m a detective working with the police. Was I blocking your way?” Though she just now noticed that the male was wearing a Junes uniform, he could be a new employee.

Well, here he was. Kalos. Both Red and Green continually insisted that he visit if he had any free time- and indeed, like they said, it was an extremely beautiful place. Even on the descent down into Lumiose, Kalos’ capital, the view was lined with ornate clouds, clear skies, and the ground dotted with small farmhouses, dirt and barely paved roads (and the occasional highway), and rows and rows of farm plants, of what he guessed were grapes, wheat, and other commodities. He swore the weather was so nice he could see the coast of Galar in the horizon- and he would love to roam, maybe even battle in his free time.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t here just for fun. The champion’s job left him with a lot to do- both internally and externally.

Ethan sighed, making sure the zipper on the cape around his neck was fully secure. The Indigo League was interested in having a grand league or tournament of some sort in partnership with other regions- the prime minister of Kanto had begged him to do this as tourism rates were falling as more people flocked to new regions for their travels. (Legend had it, in the Lental region, not only were there a diverse set of Pokémon, some of them glowed like a lightbulb.)

But he didn’t have time for that. He was here to do his job- apparently not as a strong trainer, but as a diplomatic figure. (He thought there were people for this, but he didn’t question it.) He was here to see Serena, the region’s champion. He’d practiced a bit of Kalosian beforehand- Bonjour! Enchantée, je m’appelle Ethan, un champion du ligue Indigo. He would probably crash and burn trying to pronounce everything, but he at least had to make an effort.

The car rolled to a stop in front of the ornate Pokémon League- Arceus, now that he’d thought about it, it looked like a mansion- no, castle. So much better than what Johto had to offer, he chuckled. Part of him wished he could compete here.

Ethan raised an eyebrow, stepping out of the car and closing the car door, prompting it to drive away. « ...Bone... johw? Anyone here? »

“It’s okay, don’t worry about it.” Yosuke shot him a small smile. It’s obvious that he was worried about his friend and when he’ll recover from this. The doctors said he will gradually remember things slowly and that patience was a virtue. Of course, he couldn’t work in this condition, so Yosuke filled in for him when he could. He fell down from a ladder while he was restocking a shelf and hit his head hard. It’s a good thing he was there to get some help. “Well, I guess I’ll start with your name. It’s Gladtion and I’m Hanamura Yosuke, your co-worker and friend at Junes. The doctors said you’ll remember more things eventually, so take it easy. I’ll be here if you need me and if you remember anything, like how it happened, tell me, okay?”

[📚] The historian and librarian looked at the egg, it was currently sat in a comfy incubator. Someone had left it in their library over a week ago, and no one had come to claim it. Meaning it was his now. However another problem that had arisen was the fact that he couldn’t give the egg the proper care and love it deserved. Taking a moment, he noticed a young woman who clearly wasn’t from here. Perking up, he waved to her.

“Excuse me! Miss! I have a bit of a request for you, if you don’t mind taking it. But would you perhaps be able to look after this? Some heartless character left it here for almost a week now.”

The battle was a very entertaining one. Even though she lost, Valerie still enjoyed it a great amount.

She was prepared to send the other trainer off, having given her the Fairy Badge and a TM for Dazzling Gleam following the usual rewards for a challenger achieving victory, but she was surprised by Serena commenting on her clothing.

     ❝ Actually, I made it myself. ❞ The gym leader stated, smiling. ❝ Thank you, for the compliment. ❞

Rise was the last one to come out of the TV today due to feeling particularly exhausted. Scanning the dungeon and analyzing enemies while they were in there, coupled in with the fact that everyone trained harder than usual, which meant way more running and catching up on her end didn’t help. Still, she was happy she could be useful to the team in her own way. Naturally, their leader made sure there were no costumers or employees in the electronics department, so everyone was safe.

“Phew...” she mumbled to herself and stood up on her feet, dusting off her uniform. Looking around, she noticed the clock -- 7 PM -- and realized that Junes would close in a few hours. She should probably get going, but she was famished and so, went up to the food court to get something. “Hm?” She could hear a dog barking from nearby and she looked down. “Hello there. You’re pretty cute~. Were you... barking at me for some reason?” she asked, confused.
