It’s interesting to me how often we look to others to validate whether or not we belong or our lived experience ‘counts’. Comparison mind creates boxes to tick and throws up barriers for belonging. Working on depictions of the five wisdom Buddhas in non-male forms whilst listening to @shanteparadigm on the podcast Meditation in the City. Seems apt to listen to folks discussing how patriarchy and Orientalism and racism have excluded so many and enabled such abuses of power. It’s great to hear folks in Shambhala saying so many of the things I’ve felt and thought over the years - naming the many reasons I have struggled to join existing dharma communities and have largely created my own with other folks who feel alienated or excluded or unwelcome. We cannot change that which we do not see.
