So I don't normally get into fanfic, but has anyone done anything with the concept of students at Mumple from Fantasy High getting up to shenanigans while the Bad Kids are doing their own thing? Like I realize Mumple is a trade school but... it's a trade school. Don't tell me they aren't doing something neat there.
Like, it explicitly trains so-called NPC professions. That's rife for story possibilities, like:
Blacksmithing student who doesn't have the gift for artificing uncovers a conspiracy to adulterate metal in Solace.
Someone on a track to be a shopkeeper realizes that there's been a string of robberies of local businesses, but bigger chain stores seem to be untouched, and wonders why.
An innkeeper student tries to renovate a local hotel for their senior thesis, only to find it massively cursed.
Someone who's on just a generic guard track becomes disillusioned with the way the police force in Elmville operates and tries to get into Aguefort instead.
A healer has to make do without clerical magic when a major car crash happens in town and they're doing a residency at St. Owen's.
Apparently all of the Cubby kids go there. Are they trying to upend the system from within?
I don't know, it just sounds fun.
