If he’s harsh, it’s only because he’s on the defensive. He’s never seen Matt angry before— not with him at least. Sure, it’s not a great look for a criminal defense lawyer to bail his own boyfriend out of jail. And sure, Klaus maybe said a few things he shouldn’t have, called a few too many names to the cops and attorneys that Matt deals with on a daily basis. But in his defense, it WAS a bullshit charge. 

     He was just dicking around! Boys will be boys, or whatever that saying is, and sometimes boys just like to chuck empty beer bottles on the ground and watch them shatter just for the fun of it. He was only being dumb— and maybe just slightly tripping balls on ketamine— but since when is there a $1,000 fine for that?!

“Hey, don’t be mad at me.” He sighs as he trails behind Matt over to the clerical desk for release. “It won’t happen again, ‘kay? I’ll pay back your bail money. C’mon. Matt? Matty? Matthew? C’mon. It’s not my fault your friends are assholes. C’mon, just say something.”

THE ACTION IS MET WITH A LOOK OF UTTER SHOCK from the hound — when the devil reached toward her face, she expected something... else. anything else. a slap, a grab. he got in too fast for her to deflect, so she braced, but felt only the featherlike motion of his fingertip swiping down her nose as if to a child. regardless of intent, hellhound is hellhound, so she bares her teeth and goes in for a swift knee to the abdomen.

She knows they should stop, but his hands feel like heaven and it's not like he's stopping either. Pressed against the cool tile, fingers curl into his shirt to pull him as close as possible. Her lips ghost over the skin of his face, breath hot and the softest of moans slip out as one hand slips under his shirt to feel the bare skin of his abdomen.

❝ Mhm.. we should stop... ❞ Yet, her lips find his and Emma succumbs to the whims of the heart and the fire that burns in the pit of her stomach. Teeth catch on his bottom lip, a small nip but sharp all the same.

THE  CITY  THAT  NEVER  SLEEPS  RIGHT  BELOW  THEIR  FEET  AND  YET  IT  COULDN’T  FEEL  FURTHER.  there are no places to hide, however that roof feels like a little oasis in the middle of a desert where moments can be stolen, plucked, unapologetically, like flowers from your neighbors garden. natasha watches car lights flicker like fireflies all while dangling her feet off the ledge, nursing a cold bottle of beer still sweating condensation. in moments such as this it would be almost too easy to forget.

              something always pulls her back ; this time it’s his voice.

the change is subtle —— she still looks at those lights, but doesn’t really see them, still takes a swig of beer but it tastes like questions now.      ❝ something tells me you’re not talking about our little rooftop rendezvous, matthew. ❞     call it an educated guess or one too many existential conversations they’ve already shared. enough to write a book that has no answers.

              brows raise a touch as she surveys the man before her.  for the briefest moment,  she considers asking him if she looks like the kind of person who is capable of kicking said ass.  but she bites her tongue,  all too aware of the irony of such a phrased question.  ❝  long line?  ❞  she mumbles instead.  her violent tendencies are reserved for those who deserve it.  no matter his moods,  he is far away from hitting the thresholds of grievances she considers worthy of drawing a knife over.  she only fights to kill.  and,  typically,  she tries to avoid the fighting part altogether.  then again,  as she stares at him a little longer she considers he might not be speaking in the literal sense.  ❝  are you...okay?  ❞  she ventures to inquire instead.

HE  WAS  RUNNING  ON  FUMES  ALONE  .  fingers  &&  knuckles  bloody  ,  a  deep  cut  on  his  temple  ,  &&  his  chest  ripped  with  shrapnel  .  he  was  fairly  certain  that  if  he  had  not  rewound  time  -------  just  those  few  seconds  that  he  had  pulled  back  ,  he  would  have  been  dead  .  five  wasn’t  entirely  sure  how  he  didn’t  die  with  what  he  got  ,  but  the  sum  of  the  matter  was  that  he  was  a  fuckin’  stubborn  son  of  a  bitch  .  if  3  apocalypses  didn’t  kill  him  , THEN  NOTHIN’  FUCKIN’  WOULD    .  still  .  didn’t  bode  well  that  now  time  thugs  were  after  him  .  ----  there  was  the  commission  that  amended  the  timeline  .  &&  then  those  who  slipped  through  the  cracks  &&  used  the  commission  technology  to  their  advantage  .  &&  five  wasn’t  entirely  sure  what  he  had  done  to  PISS  this  particular  group  off  [  though  he  was  sure  that  was  gonna  be  explained  fairly  soon  if  they  recognized  him  in  this  body  ]  

five  shuddered  ,  the  last  of  what  he  had  left  SWARMING  around  his  hands  as  he  finally  picked  ...  someone  who  would  ---  might  ----  get  it  .  not  family  .  he  couldn’t  bring  this  in  front  of  any  of  his  family  .  not  that  he  knew  where  they  were  .  slumping  against  the  wood  of  the  door  ,  five  made  a  GRUNT  ,  his  fingers  nimbly  going  over  his  sweater-vest  where  he  had  been  hit  .  gulping  down  ,  five  tapped  at  the  door  ,  praying  silently  that  matt  was  there  .  before  sliding  down  &&  hitting  the  floor  with  a  nasty  thump  .  his  gaze  lifted  slightly  as  the  door  opened  &&  he  muttered  .  “  down  here  .  sorry  for  barging  in  but  uh  ...  i  need  HELP  .  ”

it wasn’t often that he had to cover a shift in the big city.   southampton was his preferred haunt and only traveled in when it was absolutely necessary.   what constituted  ‘ necessary ’   for him?   a shortage of cardiologists and an overabundance of patients with appointments.   

a few shifts went by smoothly.   the hospital was kind enough to find him an apartment just a few blocks down.   he’d be covering for at least a few months and a hotel would lose them more money.   and it was a quiet place   (as quiet as one could get when speaking of the city)   with a doorman who was practiced in the art of discretion  —  which was not normally something he particularly needed.   normally being the key word.   leather dress shoe clad feet carried him down the side street.   the sound of which seemed awfully loud and he realized it was that the whole neighborhood was hushed.   new york rarely had a moment of silence like this.   the feeling of hairs rising on the back of his neck made him wonder if there was a reason.   something out of the ordinary.   there was a clanging down the alleyway and every thought within his mind told him to keep walking or call the police.   but his heart?   tugged otherwise. 

he made his way down the alley.  empty to first glance.   then there was a rustling in the dumpster and he swore if it was a raccoon he’d never do another valiant deed in his life.   but to his surprise it was a fairly beaten up man in all black.   beaten to the brink of death.   “ no hospital . . . ”  were the only words uttered before he slipped into a state of floating unconsciousness.  julian lifted the man out and carefully helped  walk / drag  him to the apartment building.   the doorman was slipped a fifty just to make sure nothing was said.   

it took him a few hours to get the man cleaned up.   the only place left untouched was his face covered by ski mask.   this was due to a hesitance of perhaps there is a reason he is concealing his identity.   but there was trauma to his face and julian knew as a doctor there was no way it should be left untreated.   

only another hour or so passed before the man awoke.   julian sat in the chair across from him,   hands clasped under his chin and dark eyes gazing intently.   he hadn’t slept.   the other would sense him,   something he knew quite well from college,  but he spoke up anyway,     ❝  i dressed your wounds.   some of them were quite bad and you should be lucky a doctor found you.  and also lucky that i haven’t forgotten any of my basic training.   i don’t use it often.  ❞    /   @murdcck​​
