#13 - Murder at the Vicarage

Here we are in 2021, and off to a great start with Murder at the Vicarage! This was the very first Miss Marple novel and I enjoyed it immensely! The character of this little town of St. Mary Mead is so charming and almost cheeky. This is a cast of villagers that know each other well, and that makes it all the more fun to pay them a visit. 

It’s an interesting mystery, and the disruption of the villagers’ natural trust for each other makes for a fascinating dynamic shift. It’s so well-done, so clean, and so engaging. I won’t say too much because I don’t know that I can do it justice. This is definitely one of Christie’s coziest mysteries, and despite the murder she makes St. Mary Mead feel like home. It’s sweet and delightful. A 10/10. The colour is a mottled green, with a dash of the dark teal of the cover in the mix. 

Also Griselda, I love you. You’re my favourite sassy/semi-relevant fictional religious leader’s paramour.
