Vernoraxia kept mulling over the past, the present, and Imogen Merridew's strange behaviour.

She had never really known her father, and aside from Ellie, his family had mostly kept her at arm's length after the truth about Larkin had come out.

After Eli died, she was deemed guilty by association. Now suddenly his sister - her aunt - wanted to mend bridges? Her aunt who also happened to be her mother's erstwhile lover.

Watcher, how awkward!

She was so distracted, she didn't even realize the mess she had made of a client's makeover until she heard his yelp of outrage.

Murphy: "What the hell did you do?!"

Vernoraxia: "I - I apologize! My hand slipped and -"

Murphy: "Your hand slipped how many times, exactly? I look like a toddler went to town on my face!"

Vernoraxia: "Please, I can fix it, won't take more than a few minutes, I swear!"

Murphy: "Fine, but I'm not paying for any of this!"

Vernoraxia: "Of course not!"

Vernoraxia could already see the bad review incoming...

“Well, I made it!”

“Next stop, home sweet home.”

Jo had moved away from Mistvale after their uncle’s death, and had gone to live with a different relative in San Myshuno. They hadn’t seen the home front in years, and was surprised how much had changed.

Not everything, though. Some of their old friends still lived there, such as Murphy and Rhae. The three of them had gone to high school together, and made an attempt to start a band before, in Murphy’s garage, belting out other people’s music while dreaming of one day producing a hit of their own.

When they heard Jo was coming back to Mistvale, they let them know that they’d once again been floating the idea of starting that band, for real this time. They needed someone to do the vocals and play the guitar - Jo’s return couldn’t have been more timely.

It would be just like old times.

Well, not exactly. 

Instead of Murphy’s garage, they had rented an old crumbling soap factory for cheap (Rhae knew a friend of a friend of the owner who’d been trying to shift the place for years and was happy enough to take their money) and spent most of their remaining funds on instruments and related gear.

Now they just needed their big break.

Whether Jo and the band (which remains to be named) get their big break or not, remains to be seen - next up we finally catch up with Ellie and Oliver, who have been awaiting the birth of their child for a very long time...
