Some thoughts about Hunters on Amazon
I usually don’t make posts on here about any of the new shows I watch talking about my thoughts on it, I usually do that on twitter but I feel like there’s at least a few people on here who’ve seen Hunters that’ll come across this post.
I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I finished it last night. Part of that is because of Mindy and Murray and how I absolutely adored them and their relationship with Jonah. The other part is because of what happened in the finale.
So yes, spoilers ahead about the finale, you’ve been warned if you haven’t seen it yet.
Okay, the Meyer twist. The entire time I was watching it go down I just kept saying “what the fuck??” because I was both shocked and mad about this twist.
We knew something was off with Meyer because the propagandist lady calling him the great pretender, but I thought that it was because Meyer, to her, acting as if he was innocent when in reality he killed 11 men to save Ruth’s life.
But to make him the wolf? really? I don’t necessarily think it was lazy writing but it also wasn’t good and there are plot holes. For one, at the beginning of the finale when Meyer and Ruth meet for the first time since he left her, she points out how big and empty the room they were in was. Meyer says that it was bigger than the flat they shared. If Meyer was killed while he and Ruth were still at the Russian camp then that means she would’ve left on her own and never shared a flat.
Something someone on tv time pointed out too was that how did Ruth not notice Meyer was killed and taken away? I mean in the flashback they were sleeping in a cuddled position. I guess the wolf could’ve been very quiet about it but idk. Another thing is that why would the wolf go to the extent of putting the scar on his chest if only he and meyer knew about it? ruth possibly knew but since ruth thought meyer ran off, then she wouldn’t be seeing that scar ever.
There’s more things that don’t make sense but for the sake of not writing an entire novel, I’ll keep it at that. Honestly to me, having Meyer be the wolf the entire time kind of tainted everything that came before it. I would have much rather preferred that it was meyer the entire time and he died when the car crashed into the river with the colonel. I understand Pacino is expensive to keep around and he’s 80 so doing a tv show at his age is probably a lot but they could’ve written him out any other way. They could’ve had it be the real meyer the entire time and after the near death experience he decided to retire and pass the hunt to Jonah.
One more thing, the finale seemed very rushed and arguably out of character at some points. There’s some absolutely valid criticism I’ve read in articles and on here. The show in general struggled in some places with the writing and with the toning of it all.
I did enjoy the first nine episodes despite the issues and I’d say the best things to come out of it are Murray and Mindy (who deserved better) and their relationship with Jonah, Roxy, Lonny, and seeing Nazi’s get their karma.

murray + mindy (hunters 2020)
It’s these sequences that made Hunters great.
mindy talking to murray’s spirit while she’s home alone at the table... i’m fucking crying they’ve been thru so much together and then her asking if he’s with their son and getting to see aaron too ugh my heart can’t handle this
Honestly cannot believe that all of that happened in the s1 finale of Hunters. I cannot believe my own two eyes what the fuck that was twist after twist amazon what are you doing I am in disbelief over the entire ending someone confirm that the entire episode happened and I’m not just hallucinating
