It's a One Piece one shot in my Tales from the Going Merry series.

Zoro has to cut off Luffy's leg because of a life and death situation. While guilt is eating him from the inside, Luffy and the others adjust to the new normal. I planned on having them work through it until his leg regrew because of the devil fruit power.

I wrote several scenes but couldn't find the right tone and kept alternating between too gory/serious and too silly. I'll get back to it eventually. Maybe. I hope...

Basically it's a One Piece modern AU, they have phones and regular jobs, but there is also a corrupt government, violent military police and celestial dragons are rich spoilt influencers.

Luffy hangs out with Law at the hospital (read: he annoyingly shows up against the surgeon's will because he's working through the trauma of losing Ace) and that's where he is when the zombies start biting people.

Usopp is a scared survivalist so he was born ready, and Sanji may or may not have been bitten. I wrote maybe 30k but hit a snag and gave up for a while but I'll finish it eventually.
