TAG. YOU'RE IT. The rules are to state 10 random facts about yourself! Then go to your 10 favorite blogs and tell them they're it!
Hoo boy! Okay, I’ll give it a go.
1. (TW: blood, needles) I have never been able to give blood. Once I had my anxiety under control (needles are a trigger) and went to a local blood drive, but a little under a year before I’d visited some ruins in Mexico so I wasn’t allowed to donate. After I’d passed the year mark my anxiety had come back. I’d like to do it. I’m an organ donor and on the bone marrow registry so that makes me feel a little better.
2. I’m allergic to most dogs, which sucks because I love them. Our dog is the sweetest animal I’ve ever met and luckily I don’t react to her fur.
3. I’ve been to England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Canada, and Mexico. I’d like to visit India, Italy, Japan, Egypt, Greece, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Peru.
4. Amusing childhood words: “gacka” (cracker), “snake” (steak), “bride and broom” (groom).
5. Once when I was little, instead of monsters I got scared because I thought there was a cow in the corner of my bedroom.
6. (TW: slurs, homophobia, violence, murder) I was homeschooled K-12. I went to a public preschool. One day I came home and apparently said something about wanting to “get a shotgun and kill some f*ggots.” From someone in PRESCHOOL. My parents decided they didn’t want me having to deal with people like that, so from then on I was homeschooled. Every year they asked if I wanted to go to public school and every year the answer was no! I was very, very lucky to have a great educational experience.
6. (TW: death) Both of my grandfathers passed away from cancer when I was very young. It sucks to not know what it’s like to have a grandpa, but I’ve got 2 grandmas who are pretty awesome.
7. (TMI warning: sexual) On my 18th birthday I went to an adult store and bought a vibrator and some quick release handcuffs. I paid cash because my parents set up a joint debit account with me and thus can see activity on my card. Later that week I registered to vote, and that is the extent of my wild and crazy newly adult shenanigans.
8. I’m somewhat superstitious and believe in the possibility of many things, supernatural, extraterrestrial, or otherwise. I don’t read the National Enquirer or anything, but I prefer to stay open-minded about most things. I love science and think it’s important but I also think there are things it can’t explain, at least not yet.
9. I’ve only ever had one wristwatch, which I’ve had for over 10 years. I almost never take it off. It’s waterproof and the screen is very scratched up at this point. I’ve replaced the band many times and the battery a few times. I’m very attached to it - it shows the date, day of the week, and time to the second on the main screen, and it has a timer, a stopwatch, an alarm, and a second timezone.
10. (TW: germs) For biology one year I grew a culture of bacteria from a swab of the bottom of my purse. It was pretty gross!
I don’t have time to tag people, so if you’re reading this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged!
