[𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄]: “Your Grace?” Brienne slowly entered his tent. For once, she wasn’t wearing her armor. She’d heard he was having a tough time lately, and with all he’d done for her, she wanted to do the same for him. “Are you alright?” She walked over to him, not wanting to overstep her boundaries, but still wanting to keep him company. “Do you want to tell me what’s wrong?” (You asked for softness, here ya go! <3)
His victory has been glorious, people say about his victory over Stannis. It is expected of course, his brother never had the numbers — why in the Seven Hells he thought he could win, remains a mystery. And he is glad he won, he proved himself not only to his brother, but to his entire army, he showed everyone that they rightfully believed in him. Yet...what is he to do with Stannis? Half of his council tell him to kill his brother and his red woman, the other half to send him to the wall. There are those that tell him to spare his life from both death and the black, and let him have Storm’s End, make sure he stays there, with no assets, no followers, of course. But why does this decision trouble him? None of Stannis’ decisions ever seemed to be a result of deep thought, devoid of emotion — they are a product of a book, a set of rules he loves going by. Renly always hated it, but at the moment, it seems rather appealing. But what do the books say about situations like this?
Stannis had always been one of the very few subjects Renly is reluctant to talk about with Loras. His Knight of Flowers never quite the older Baratheon (and rightfully so) and Renly never wanted to show such vulnerability, such idiocy to him, to indicate that perhaps he still cares about the man that abandoned him fifteen years ago. Brienne’s words bring him back to reality and he blinks, making himself give her a small smile ❝Brienne.❞ he greets her and he does not say anything else for a moment, debating whether he should express his concerns — or at least a very small part of them — or dismiss her questions. Renly has been resting his jaw on his hand and taps his fingers to his cheek, before leaning back to his chair ❝My council has been devided, over my brother’s fate. ❞ Brienne loves him, he knows, so she is not objective. Yet she is much better than anyone from his council, she has nothing to gain from Stannis’ death nor from his life. And even though he would not admit it, Renly finds himself liking her more every time he sees her. So, he thinks to himself, why not? ❝ What do you think I should do?❞
