It has been a long day, a long meeting (even as an intern, he stayed there as much as he had to. Who said he’s irresponsible?) and he needs to blow off some steam. Unsurprisingly, neither of his brothers join him, with Robert trying to get laid and Stannis giving him a mini lecture about how they are not in London to have fun. One of these days, Renly is going to take a DNA test. Not only he cannot be related to these people, but he finds it hard to believe these two are related to each other too.

So Renly finds himself in a bar, and he knows he can find someone to hang out with before he has even finished his first drink. And who knows, maybe he shall follow Robert’s footsteps and flirt with someone as well. He orders himself a Mojito (which he will switch to virgin after this one), and sits at the bar. After having a friendly conversation with the bar-woman, he scans the place around him and he spots a man, no more than a decade older than him. Hopefully, the other man does not mind, as Renly decides to approach. Why not? If nothing else, this would be an experience ❝Well, hello there.❞ Renly gives him one of his most charming smiles  ❝I will not use a lame pick-up line and instead, I will ask you if I could get you another drink?❞

Marta ( @servinglies​ ) has basically become one of the staples of this website. I don't think any of my blogs haven't been following her, her take on her muses - but especially Merlin - have completely altered how I'll ever be able to watch the show again. She's spent so many years pouring love into everything on her blogs, every post, and I'll never not find it all utterly magical.

 marta!     so   I’ve   been   following   you   for   a   ridiculous   amount   of   time   on   a   ridiculous   amount   of   my   old   blogs    &&    truly   can’t   believe   we’re   only   now   talking.       but   your   passion   for   merlin,     for   all   your   muses   /   blogs,     is   completely   intoxicating.     I   have   so   much   fun   bitching   about   canon   with   you   and   can’t   wait   for   us   to   take   over   a   tv   network   and   just   protect   all   the   female   muses   who   didn’t   deserve   to   get   yeeted   into   fandom   hell.

❛ i know you can. ❜ gwen’s voice is quiet, gentle, but firm. there’s a conviction behind her tone that has only made itself known in recent years. in the hardened aftermath of losing almost everything. now, more than ever, she relies on merlin to do what needs to be done, and in the dim glow of the fire, the world seems only to contain this room. nothing more and nothing less.

despite herself, gwen sighs, reaching to remove the circlet woven into her curls. it’s late, well into the night now ; she’d sent her maid home hours ago. it’s strange that she has one at all, but it’s expected of her station. still, gwen likes to do most of these things for herself. she is meticulous in the removal of the baubles that adorn her ; the circlet and the earrings, the gold clasps curled around strands here and there. when she is finished her hair falls loose, and she fixes merlin with a familiar look.

it’s late, after all. and the nights are colder. ❛ you’ll stay, won’t you? ❜ it doesn’t sound like she’s asking, particularly, but if he wants to leave she won’t stop him. that’s never been the kind of relationship they’ve had. ❛ you needn’t leave until morning. ❜

god, fin wishes he had his camera, but he agreed not to use it during this conversation. if there wasn’t free food and free information involved, finley might be more pushed to decline. however, both were out on the table (both physically and metaphorically), so as fin took a large bite of his burger, he glanced at the other with a raised brow. ‘i’ve been hunting you for’a long ass time, y’know that?’ longer than anything he’s ever hunted, really. photographs and blurry footage all led him to this moment- and he could even capture it on film. when his mouth was empty again, he squinted at merlin. ‘so- immortal? a god? what’s going on here? it’s been killing me for at least a year. i gotta know,’ / @servinglies​.

[  if there was an award for being able to write an essay on merlin (even in their sleep) @servinglies would be the winner. Marta knows absolutely everything on him and it shows. the verse, the meta, the writing ; everything is stunningly perfect. ]

     he flips slowly through the pages of one of the many tomes lining the walls and piled on the tables in gaius and merlin’s chambers.  “where did you manage to find all of these books?”  he can’t read a word on any of the pages, but they fascinate him nonetheless — foreign and otherworldly, pieces of a world an orphaned, lowborn, bastard boy had never been privy to seeing.    //    @servinglies  /  lancelot & merlin  ;  closed
