You’re not even a shadow...
(This is just a short fic of what I imagine Nineteen/Samantha’s reaction would be towards Kurt Darkholme. Now I will admit that I am still reading up on him but he seems to really dis on Kurt Wagner and gets irritated when mistaken for him. Also wanted to show a little of how she reacts when enraged and what it takes to stop her. Hope you enjoy)
Nineteen stands in the corner, watching the interactions of her team mates. Many try to remain light-hearten despite the current circumstances being anything but. They even try to talk about anything from the weather to sports instead of the nightmare they will be facing. It's as if they believe by not treating it as the very threat that could end their lives and millions of others, they can keep it at bay. A vain effort but one she will not deter.
There is one other conversation however that is not like this. One taking place between her team mates and someone who looks much like the one they lost. Even more than she does. Because in a way, it is him. Just not from this time. Like others, she had been sent into a state of shock at seeing him. It broke all reason and truth. He should not be here.
However he is and she could not argue that his assistance as well as that from others are desperately needed. They are facing a threat greater than any before after all. So she observes him. Upon learning of him, she has gone to wearing her image inducer to save any confusion or to avoid being a distraction. To anyone, she looks like a tall human looking woman with white skin, hair, and red eyes. Otherwise, no one special. She even made the request to be referred only by her clone ID name or code name, Moonlight.
She watches and listens. He is getting upset, even threatening. Tired of being mistaken for their fallen team mate. Nineteen feels her anger rise as she listens to his tongue wagging. Then her pointed ears pick up something that relinquishes all her control.
"Had he not been so weak, your friend would still be alive!"
There is stun silence One that Nineteen does not disturb as she moves towards the man. He doesn't notice her. He is too busy glaring at the others. He will notice her though. Nineteen has been trying to adopt more peaceful thoughts of mind. However there are some things she considers unforgivable.
Se makes quick use of catching him off guard. Before he can even think to teleport, she has him bent over the bar table, arm painfully twisted and forced into a position that even the slightest pressure will dislocate it. In her free hand is a broken beer bottle, a sharp jagged edge is pressed against the man's blue neck. It would be in it if not for the burly hand around her wrist. She looks over at the older mutant, her face absent of expression.
"This is not what he would want kid."
Nineteen feels the urge to ignore this, to slice into the imposter's neck so he doesn't have to worry anymore about someone confusing him for their deceased friend. To see that blood spray over her white fur.
However Logan is correct. The man she knew only briefly would not want this. So she withdraws the broken beer bottle and releases his arm.
"Who are you?! What was that?!"
Nineteen looks at the man coldly, her red eyes staring into his. She raises her arm to a small chest pocket and pulls out a small device. She drops it and smashes it under her foot. With it destroyed, he true appearance is revealed.
"I am Samantha Wagner," she states. "Daughter of Kurt Wagner. You are not even a shadow of him. If you insist on disrespecting him, I will not hesitate in ending your life before you can fulfill your urge for vengeance."
Before another word is spoken, she is gone in the familiar sulfurous vapors. She has said her peace and gave her warning. It is up to him on whether she acts on it or not.
