There was a shift in the air as Eric’s words sunk in. Shy smile warming her cheeks in a light red hue. As she gazes at him from the side, her lips part, hand reaching to his cheek to brush her thumb against. “My thoughts exactly. This feels like our place. Though I wish it were a little bigger. I was looking forward to having a dark room.” Soft laugh dispelling the worry, she brought both her arms around his neck. “But I can make it work, because this place will be ours. And--”

She brought her forehead to his with excited eyes searching his. “ I can’t wait to marry you.”

Shelly became accustomed to the occasional spirits that would find her on the bridge in limbo, while she waited. Sometimes if she was lucky they were someone Eric had been trying to help. But the stranger that was approaching her now, had air about him she couldn’t quite place. Everyone she’d encountered before were just as confused as she was, and all she could do was offer some guidance of what she did know. But this person, this very tall person walked towards her as if he’d been there a dozen times, if not more. The brunette took a step back instinctively as he locked eyes. There was no reason to think she was in danger, but she still remained cautious. “Who are you?”

THE CROW: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

“I always knew you had a good eye,” she crouched down with the camera to take a better photo. The hues of the light reflecting off the glass was creating a wonderful glimmer she hoped to capture. “I don’t normally do series with abandoned properties, but...I have to say this is incredible, Eric.” Most of the abandoned building photographs were technically in a murky area. Hefty fines were the least of the legal trouble she could get in. But her name was not going to be documented. She would appear as an anonymous contributor. One that --with their contract-- would be paid by the photo. 

Eric shared the same love of rough and gothic architecture as she did. The deal they’d gotten with their loft was no mistake. They’d done their research and even if they were getting married--that’s where she wanted to live. She felt inspired and the natural lighting was incredible. Even if her makeshift dark room was small, every nook and cranny of that place was theirs and theirs alone. Even if the idea of buying this old building was trying to creep its way into her mind. While they could get in by the broken window, she’d been told there was a door that was just around the property that hadn’t been properly shut. As they made their way through a door that was left ajar, the interior while rotting  was beautifully tragic. “Check out these ceilings...” she zoomed in with her lens and captured the strings of dust that resembled a skinny chandelier.

Shelly tied her hair in a pony tail, as she prepared her camera with the proper lens. The Magazine had instructed her to do a piece about a new up and coming band that was a regular at The Black Out. She’d been there a few times before for happy hour, but never made it to any performances. It’d been intentional to come while they were still practicing their set. If only to gather a better background. As she peeked through the lens to see if the focus was good, she unintentionally focused on one of the lead guitarist. As his eyes met the camera, she lowered it, and immediately apologized. “Sorry I was just doing some practice shots. You can keep doing what you’re doing."

“Oh admit it, Eric. You love playing the detective. If you weren’t some tortured rock star, you’d give the sheriff a run for his money,” she teased with a knowing smile. Ever since they moved to Hawkins, it was like a dark cloud had followed them. Supernatural occurrences kept happening but the folk around them clearly weren’t seeing the signs. Not like her and Eric were, save for the six kids they happened upon on their moving day. They’d been accused of welcoming far too many strays before, but six in one go, on the first day? It had to be some kind of record. 

“Maybe we can go to the library later and look up blueprints of this place. See if anything tracks with the ‘portals,’ they were talking about.” They’d always been a ‘very involved in their community’ kind of couple after all.

“Matching?” Shelly contemplated the notion for a few moments, later beaming at the thought, as she drummed her fingers along her lips. “Not our usual take, but since you’ve brought it up...” she climbed into his lap comfortably like she’s done a million times before, taking his hand in hers to scratch affectionately. “What about Buttercup and Westley?”

Shelly sat cross legged on the floor, as she arranged her local stores find for her costume. Counting the tubes, she frowned for a moment as she contemplated it aloud. “I may have purchased more fake blood than I needed...” she trailed off. “But-- maybe we can use the rest of it for a backdrop at the party?” a sudden smile emerges as her creative juices start to flow. Perhaps she would bring her camera tonight after all.

“Isobel Evans. You’ve been holding out on me...big time.” Shelly remarked walking into the festival her friend made happen. “I knew you had great taste but this? What a transformation!” Taking the lens cover off her camera, she started to take some different shots as they both walked further into the park. Mere weeks ago this place was a dump, with dried lawns, and littered fences. The facilities had chipped paint, and there’d even be an unidentified stench the last few times she’d gone by here with a jog. But now it was a Fall perfection, all thanks to her eye.
