Lookit dump for Aster!
I love how cute everyone makes him! I headcanon him as having. uh. questionable taste, so it's always nice to see him treated nicely, haha.

Being Aster Evans is pretty good, most of the time. She has Willow at her side, for one. There was no doubt in the gym coach’s mind that as long as her beautiful wife was in her life, everything was gonna be alright. There was her adorable adopted daughter, Sage, of course; the little girl was practically the blonde’s entire world.
But sometimes...sometimes stupid thoughts creep up in the middle of the night. Thoughts that the warm embrace of a lover can’t get rid of.
Sometimes those thoughts require leaning into vices.
Aster knew it was a bad habit, but damn it, how else was she supposed to cope?
So, here she was again. Sitting on the kitchen island, at 3 am, drinking vodka from the bottle.
“...you too, huh Doll?” she asked, looking over her shoulder at the kitchen door.

The young startouch elf sighed when he came upon the next town, he needed some new shoes and wanted to get a new cloak and some pants so he could keep himself warm. Aster looked into the bag of coins he had and sighed. He’d probably only have enough for the shoes. He didn’t even have enough to buy himself some decent food though if he got shoes. He groaned softly at this. He didn’t want to trade anything he had though because he either needed it or he wanted to keep it because it kept him comfortable...Well as comfortable as a poor, homeless elf who slept on a blanket in a tent on the ground every night without a pillow for his head and only had a ratty blanket to cover him could be.
Aster started to set up camp though, making sure to keep his most valuable things on his person so they wouldn’t be stolen. Aster then grabbed his cards, the sign he had made himself, and a blanket to sit on before heading into town to see if he could make some money so he could get more goods.
Everyone, meet Aster. I made him out of spite to fix the horrible lack of colorful men's clothing. I now have. So much colorful men's clothing.
An older Aster who is hundreds of years old.
It was currently night time and the stars were out so Aster did what he always did at night and stared up at them in awe and wonder. He knew every constellation by heart from the texts he had managed to purchase with his meager funds...Yeah, he knew it was a frivolous purchase in his case since he really should be saving money for food, clothes, blankets, and new supplies whenever he needed them... But he had a right to some amount of comfort even if oftentimes real comfort was out of the range of his pocket. Hell, the startouch elf hadn’t slept in a bed since he was 17 (around 18 years) and it was his last night before he turned 18 and had to leave the orphanage on his own with the clothes on his back, a blanket he took, and the deck of tarot cards that he’d been gifted for his 18th birthday.
Aster wasn’t angry at them of course even though he knew they wanted to be rid of him especially when he was such a troublesome young child years ago with his powers. He still didn’t really even know how to use magic, mainly ignoring it for the most part because he scared people when he had last used it. He sighed as he stared at the sky, wondering about where he came from, if he had parents, why they would abandon him. He was angry at them more than anything, just wanting to know why. Why did they set him up for this life? A life of wandering and never belonging anywhere with the moon, sun, and stars being his only company.
“Why?”he asked up at the cloudless, star-filled sky as tears filled his deep purple eyes that were actually turning more and more blue as time went. Eventually they would be a bright blue when he was older, blue like the hottest burning stars out in space. But for now he just stared up at the sky silently as tears trickled down his cheeks, not daring to make a sound lest his inner self scold him for crying like a fucking child over something so stupid. He pulled his knees close to his chest, just wishing to be held. He just wanted companionship really, a friend. Though what did friends do anyways? He’d never really had one for very long... He didn’t think he would know what to do. Aster didn’t want to be too clingy, nor did he want to be too distant seeming.
The elf took out his old, worn, and frankly ratty blanket from his bag and wrapped it around himself, finding the weight comforting. He put it up over his head as well so only his face stuck out. He was still angry and quite upset with his own thoughts and with the parents that just up and abandoned him. He wanted to scream, to break something, but restrained himself and just sat, sniffling faintly, not even bothering to wipe his eyes.

He knew he could trust Ryan. They’ve known each other for months now. Months of work related interactions as well as many of personal interactions. When many were quick to make assumptions about him and his rather unusual species, Ryan was one of few people willing to listen. Willing to get to know him. Aster would be lying if their months of frequent talking and “hanging out” as the humans call it haven’t lead him to some rather fluttery feelings in his chest.
Said fluttery feelings only increase as Ryan gives his hand a gentle squeeze. So he noticed. And he doesn’t mind.
“You don’t have to walk me back to my room every time I come to visit you, we’re inside a giant, heavily guarded spaceship. It’s safe,” Aster softly insists. It is more or less safe now that people have gotten used to him but there a few left, a few outliers who would be more than willing to attack him. This paired with having been attacked in the past is enough to raise concerns. “I’m okay. No one has even called me names in a long time. I think the worst of it is behind us.”
