Sniffling, Declan turned his teary gaze up toward his big brother.

“Madame,” he began in a trembling voice. “She found some of Papa’s books, including the one he and Mama kept all their old love letters to each other in... She was throwing them into the fireplace...burning them...I begged her to stop, even tried to take one away from her.” He lifted a trembling hand to show the light burn from the flame. “She slapped me until I dropped it, said I should know my place. I-I didn’t want to upset Ella by showing her right away, so I came here.”

A look into Declan Sullivan’s closet 👕👀

Black, blood and tattoos. The black and the tattoos had been since he was a teenager, but the blood came afterwards. And he liked it, too bad he can’t wear it as a proud badge. Declan is a walking cliché and he couldn’t care less. He loves his combat boots and his leather jackets.

The Sullivan Family

Their parents left Ireland in hopes to achieve the so called American Dream, one other friends and family had achieved many years ago. Liam was almost ten and the twins five when they settled in Hell’s Kitchen before moving to Queens. It didn’t take long for Mr. Sullivan to start with the illicit activities. He started with the construction union and then branched out. 

Leaving Ireland wasn’t easy for Liam and neither was being the oldest sibling with a pair of twins running around. He was forced to grow up fast and be the responsible one and the man of the house when her father was gone. As his father climbed up the ranks, Liam climbed alongside him. He was a special one, everyone knew that. He wasn’t the most violent one - though he is capable of great violence if necessary - but he definitely outsmarted more men than they liked to admit. After his father passed away, he took his place and did what no one else dared to do: he got rid of the previous leader and placed himself on the top. 

From a very young age, it was clear to everyone that Declan was just different. While the family tended to control their feelings, Declan was an easy book to read. No one knows exacly where he got his anger issues, his mother says it was the moving, blames the american ways, but there are some others that noticed a strange behaviour since he was a little kid. He barely finished school and just followed the family steps, although he specialized in what Liam calls ‘the security aspect of the business’, a nice euphemism for doing the dirty work. Declan married a cute bartender named Moira and had a daughter, Colleen. His marriage didn’t last long and soon enough he was back at being his usual fuckboy self - although, while also trying to be the best father possible.

Cara is the younger twin. Her life had been significantly different than her brothers. She was raised differently, she was raised to be the perfect wife. A sweet girl that had been deprived of her freedom. Her parents arranged a marriage for her. At the age of nineteen, she married Seamus and that’s when the abuse began. Divorce was not an option, at least not when her parents were alive. However, when they finally died, ten years later, she knew that a divorce was not going to work. She was still planning how to free herself when he arrived one night, drunk and angry. It hadn’t been her plan, but the kitchen knife was there and Seamus ended up with fifteen stabs. A new Cara was born after that night.

Brooklyn was the baby, he was born when the family was’t struggle. In a way he’s the one who got the best life out of the siblings. He had a pretty normal childhood and even went to college, where he studied economic and finances. Now, he’s the one in charge of the finances of the organization and the money laundry.

Last but not least, Colleen. Declan’s daughter was supposed to stay away from all this. She was sent to Italy in hopes she would pursue her carreer as an artist. She studied in Florence with the finest and yet... yet when she returned home, she was immediately drawn the the family business, becoming the next in line to take Liam’s place once he decides to retire.

Declan Sullivan como Banzai, del clan de las Hienas en el Rey León

Declan representa a las hienas en su conjunto, pero principalmente a Banzai.  Banzai era el compañero de Shenzi. Junto con ella y Ed, forma parte del clan de hienas que habitan el Cementerio de Elefantes y se aliaron con Scar. Era el más agresivo e impulsivo del grupo. A su vez, le es increíblemente fiel a Shenzi, lo cual puede verse como un paralelismo de la lealtad que Declan tiene para con su familia.

Las hienas también tienen su costado cómico/humorístico, desde la idiotez hasta los ‘puns’ en el medio de la cacería y las risas desquiciadas. Declan es, de los Sullivan, el más gracioso. Siempre hace chistes (aunque sean de mal gusto o nadie los entienda) en los momentos menos oportunos.

Declan represents the hyenas as a whole, but mainly Banzai. Banzai was Shenzi's partner. Along with her and Ed, he is part of the clan of hyenas that inhabit the Elephant Cemetery and allied with Scar. He was the most aggressive and impulsive of the group. He is also incredibly faithful to Shenzi, which can be seen as a parallel to Declan's loyalty to his family.

Hyenas also have their comical / humorous side, from idiocy to 'puns' in the middle of the hunt and crazy laughter. Declan is the funniest of the Sullivan siblings. He always makes jokes (even when they are distateful or nobody understands them) at the least opportune moments.

WRITING PROMPTS FOR DAYS

A sigh fell from Declan’s lips as he stepped to the side to wait for his coffee at Starbucks. One reason, for how long it took to order. Another reason, just because really. He was mentally exhausted. This had been an interesting year to say the least. “Thank you,” he said, Irish accent dripping from his lips, grabbing his coffee from the counter.

Turning around, he about ran into someone, almost dropping his coffee. “Oh sorr..” He stopped, seeing who it was. When those words fell from their lips, their history flashed back through his mind. It was almost a new year, and it was snowing outside. “What are you even doin’ here?”
