Toramaru looked as Rin escorted him to the school’s gate and he shook his head as he lightly brushed Rin’s hand off his shoulder. “I don’t think so Matsuoka-san. I’ll probably be too busy. Safe trip.” Tora said as he turned and headed for the train station to take him home. He almost made it before he started crying again.
He did keep in touch with Rin as best as he could though, but over the years it got more and more sporadic as they both got busy.
Five years later, in Australia…
It had been some time since they heard from each other when Toramaru reentered Rin’s life. He had neither forgiven nor forgotten and this time he’d have the power. Rin’s previous Coach had died suddenly after a car accident, leaving the position open. Plus, Rin needed a sponsor to further his dreams. Little did he know that he was about to get one.
Rin was just finishing his tenth lap when at the end shiny black dress shoes greeted him as a young raven-haired man in a grey suit stood by the starting block looking down at him. There was something familiar about him, but who was he?
Toramaru for his part just smiled down at Rin, not saying anything as he waited for Rin. How typical, he didn’t seem to recognize him while Rin’s red-head and sexy body filled his dreams for years…
It was THAT day again, the day when the clubs were all shaken up. It wasn’t so bad really, it was fun getting to see other clubs and broaden one’s interests. Rumor was that this year the Raimon’s soccer club would get someone from a different school’s swim club and the young tiger FW sure hoped that he had some talent at soccer. Still, no reason to be a bad host, so Toramaru bent over doing his cleats up and that was how the guest would first see him, a nice view of his butt as the fabric of his school-issue shorts tightened on them.
I got a question? Soccer players wear shin guards when playing soccer I don't see any of them in this universe Why?
Toramaru smiled. “Because we’re the best in Japan? Kidding, kidding, though we did win the world that year, but anyway…the mandatory shin guard rule wasn’t approved for junior soccer teams in Japan until 2012. We played before that. Don’t worry though, I’ll make sure Kariya wears his. I don’t want my brother getting hurt.”
Toramaru remember when you're on the sixth grade, your the best soccer player and your teammates shunned you coz you scored most of the goals? You then made up your mind that you would always let others score while you would make assists? What happens if you don't let them? What if you always ignore your teammates forever, get angry on certain times and became a big jerk coz you found out a shocking dark secret in your life? That's just an altered timeline theory.
Toramaru tried to think of a response to the other’s words. “Of course I remember how my soccer was back then, but had I not made the decision to let them score, I don’t know what would have happened. I don’t think I would get mad at them though.
Having said that, it didn’t feel nice when they wouldn’t celebrate with me though so maybe I would have left soccer altogether, I don’t know. If I hadn’t quit though I think I would have still come to Raimon eventually and I hope that meeting them would have still set me along the right path of being a team player.” Tora said scratching his chin in thought.
“I don’t think I would have become a jerk, I still would have had my mom to set things right. Besides, when I did play just to score, I didn’t ever do it out of evil. I just thought it was the way to play. I hope this answered your question, please feel free to drop by the Toranoya any time. Now I need to start dinner service and get dinner ready for my half-brother Kariya. That boy can really eat when he wants to! Good day!”
