MUSE Phan Fest!

Muse’s 2009 album The Resistance was released on September 11th, so on this day let’s mark the occasion by joining our love of nostalgic phan and their favorite band.

We invite you to explore the songs on this album in relation to Dan and Phil. Any creative work is welcome, including, but not limited to: fics, gifs, edits, music videos, mood boards, poetry, lettering, meta and art in any media.

No need to sign up! Just post your work on September 11th and tag #musephanfest so that everyone can track it and send us a link to your post so that we are sure to re-blog it.

Each of the posts above has the lyrics and my musings on each song.

You don’t have to be a lifelong fan of Muse to participate in this fest, just listen to the album and prepare for the feels. Heck even if you don’t think you’ll participate, I recommend everyone listens to The Resistance, as so many of the songs hold new meaning in this post-coming out universe. 

Honestly I think the only song on the album that doesn’t relate to D&P in some way is ‘United States of Eurasia’, but if you want to take that as a challenge, more power to you! I did leave it out of the list though.

You can focus on a single song, a line, an event, an old tweet, booth or pic. There will be no songs assigned nor limit to the number of creations. If everyone ends up writing smut set to ‘Undisclosed Desires’ so be it! 

But if you feel like dropping me a line to let me know you’re participating or what you have in mind I’d love to hear from you! And if you have no idea what to do message me and we can come up with something. Messaging, asks and the inbox for this blog are all open.

If you would like a beta or would like to volunteer as beta please let me know so I can connect people. I can also look over anything for you. Any word length and rating of fic is welcome, just please tag responsibly.

All posts will be re-blogged here on September 11th, one month from today. If you miss the deadline, don’t worry! I’ll keep re-blogging as long as people are creating. If you make something in November or February, even based on a song from a different album, send me a link and I’ll share it! This is my first time organizing a fest and I want it to be as chill as possible, but also generate lots of lovely content to fill people’s feeds.

*Note that the official music video was released on October 9th, 2009 so this could take place before or after meeting irl.
