Do you think there is a problem with the LGBT community where gay men are given a free pass on being misogynists just because of their sexuality? If so, do you have any insight on why that is? Sometimes, I feel as if I have fueled this problem personally, unintentionally, with dumb generalizations of women to justify my preference for men.
Read my answer with the knowledge that I am a straight cis woman, who has friends in the LGBT community but is not a part of it.
I would like to start out with a story. In high school I worked at a fast food place. Two of my coworkers were gay men. Both of them talked a lot about how gross women's bodies were. They hated vaginas but would talk about them endlessly. The majority of gay men that I know personally (certainly not all) have been the same way.
I believe I reblogged something a while back about how some gay men will touch women inappropriately without seeing anything wrong with it because they are not interested sexually in women.
