So the mushroom caps dropped their spores!! I left them out a little longer than intended so now I’m drying them to eat later lol.

The spores have been mixed into the grow box along with some coffee grounds from this morning’s brew, so we’ll see what happens over the course of the next week!

Visible mycelium development on my mushroom box!!

Going to be starting a secondary mushroom experiment today, inoculating some moistened cardboard (for substrate) with the other mushrooms I set aside. Reading more into shiitake growth, it looks like it might need a good cold shock before fruiting, so we’ll see what happens!

I’m showing you another item from my mushroom collection. This painted wooden lidded box dates from around 1900. It has a removable inlay and is completely lined with paper. I don’t know what was being kept in it originally. Now, I keep my incense stuff in this little box (also some pieces of dried fly agaric that I use as loose incense over coal.)
