Two 1965 section headers from Music Echo by totallymystified Via Flickr: Music Echo was a short-lived national music paper founded by Mersey Beat editor Bill Harry and Brian Epstein in 1964. It was amalgamated with Disc in 1966.
GREAT NEWS FOR ALL OUR READERS: Disc (sometimes Disc Weekly) was published from 1956-1975, when it was absorbed by Record Mirror (having itself previously swallowed up Music Echo and Merseybeat. Its singles reviewer at a key time was the late Penny Valentine (1943-2003), one of several people in this story I wish I’d met.
