People gatekeeping music after Stranger Things is so funny to me because youve got all these people who grew up listening to 80s music or maybe they got into metal because they heard a Metallica track on a CD a parent had and now they’re like “oh no because you just heard this song in a show that uses music so heavily to portray the feeling or emotion they want you to feel you can’t like it because you haven’t been listening to it since you were little”
People really out here telling folks they can’t listen to Master of Puppets because they only heard it for the first time in the show and didn’t make it their entire personality at age 16. Or they can’t like Kate Bush because they don’t know any other tracks than Running up that Hill.
My brother in Christ. How did you get into the music you like? Did you hear it on a show or have someone say “you should listen to this” cause I know that’s how I got into a lot of the music I like.
Also I know for a fact that the official Metallica Social Media accounts have been posting about that Master of Puppets Scene and praising the show for its use of the song.
Also it was Robert Trujillo’s son Trey who played the Master of Puppets Solo so they’re involved in the whole thing.
Kate Bush has come out and said she loves that her song was used in the show as well.
The official Iron Maiden Social Media accounts used that screenshot of Eddie holding up their album saying “This is music!” to be like “hey guys we watched it too!”
Give people a break ok. Not everyone grew up listening to the same music as you did. Stop gatekeeping.
