Only if. This is based on my personal understanding and observations in children’s natural musical development . It is a bit different from how we teach children to play an instrument though, perhaps it’s because it involves more than our innate musical abilities, and that certain level of musical aptitude is diminished due to the lack of musical exposure when a child is ready for formal instrumental instruction.
