Right so I'm finally rousing myself from my slumber by continuing on the spellbooks. It has nothing to do with current chapter events, but it makes my brain go brrr and I can then brrr that into actual writing.

So here, have some of my Musicka notes. If you're new here, Musicka is my attempt to categorize the music/melody magic usually present in 90s-00s LoZ entries (OoT, MM, WW, TP, SkSw).

Musicka is also divided into four categories, which then themselves are further divided into four tiers/subtypes like Magicka is. These broad categories are based on canon uses of song magic. To illustrate this with examples:

Sun Song would be a type of Bridge, Song of Healing would be a type of Dirge, Oath to Order would be a type of Herald, and Command Melody would be a type of Motif.

Wandering into the tiers/subtypes, I wanted a more cohesive theme between each category, in contrast to the more independent Magicka categories of demons.

(Syl - neum - melism) comes from the types of plainsong/chant of liturgical music. Then each fourth type has a more distinct identity aligned with their purpose. I wanted to keep a theme of faith in this system, since Musicka relies heavily on inner wells of power, ie the soul.

None of this is set in stone, but I hope you enjoy this little peek into my process for stumbling through magic systems and their names. Also apologies I know nothing about music theory and some aspects of this will either be tweaked or just slightly jank for forever
