“Willow House Sound Lab & Musicspace”, Walthamstow, London, UK _ Student: Pele Griffith/ BA2 _ 12.05.2025

"The design proposal kept the character of the existing public building, focusing on Willow House (869 Forest Road, London, E17 4UH), an ex-council office block now closed and scheduled for demolition / redevelopment. The new building hosts a mix of activities including creative workspaces and market facilities as well as various public spaces: food and beverage services, public gardens and / or a performance venue.

A vertical public space was generated, accessible to all visitors, day or night. It is a shared facility, encouraging the encounter of various populations living and working close to one another, yet rarely meeting. The student explored possible "maker" & flexible housing spaces / dwellings. After having identified "their makers & users", students researched the programmatic needs of the specific creative spaces."
