Holga 120CFN Flash Repair
This camera can make you fall in love and break your heart in a flash. I found this lightly used, colorful plastic toy on Facebook Marketplace. I was hopeful and sceptical at the same time. There are too many different ways to get the shaft and no guarantees after the money is sent. After reading the description and analyzing the posted pics I decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it.
I completed the transaction and made a new friend....Suffered a 3 day wait and a flash of anger at UPS and their awful delivery practices. Finally receiving my package after 11:00pm. I cried in relief at the condition and extra rolls of 120 film that were included in my purchase.
I started a quick functions check and quickly realized that the flash unit did not work. It took a lot of research and the technical eye of my fiancé to realize that the base plate was destroyed by battery acid. Thankfully, i had a spare Holga and decided that it could be sacrificed for parts. We gently slid the plate out and replaced it with the salvaged part and immediately heard the sweet sound of the flash charging!
