goddd Error in the COde is such a good fic. I've started reading it again and i desperately want to stay up all night to keep going, but it's already past midnight and I have school in the morning ;_;
Me: Finally! Time to write! Also me: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
it is... almost three in the morning and i need to talk about sophie
yes. she is bad. i'm not going to excuse this. but like? i swear to god, i thought they were orphans when i first watched this show. they have one (1) mention of parents and it's just to say that they allow their teenage son to live in a bathroomless shed on a dock. sophie is in college, i think, but she spends most of her time trying to make sure will succeed, by calling in potential managers, getting him to train and eat right, she even blows up a volcano because she saw an opportunity to be set for life.
why is this twenty-something so worried about money and taking care of her brother when their parents are still alive and how long have she and will just been abandoned? at least bella has a canon father who is just really busy with work and that's why we never see him. but sophie and will just move to the gold coast one summer like they got dumped by their parents and they tasked their eldest to make sure that her brother doesn't fall in the ocean, which would be easy to do if he had an actual house with an actual bed to live in. boy doesn't seem particularly worried about going to bed hungry every night and he doesn't even have a job so is sophie just giving him all her money to live and survive on?
i mean she literally doesn't like bella because she's distracting will from his training and honestly i kinda don't blame her. it kinda seems like she's sacrificing a lot to make sure this dude doesn't have to live in that kitchenless storage shed on a rickety dock forever and he's just taking her for granted. i mean, a woman in her twenties hating and sabotaging seventeen year-old girls is stupid and misogynistic but like. if i squint and turn my head i can kinda see it.
i don't think she's misunderstood like charlotte, i'd say misunderstood in the way that the writers didn't properly flesh out her and will's backstory even as a background element so her actions just come across like a desperate older sister who doesn't want to tell her brother that mom and dad ditched them with no money and no way to contact them and she just wants him to have the best life she can make for him
