I did it! I finally did it! Here’s the finished piece. Based on the art nuevo style of Alphonse Mucha, I tested a few things while doing this. I learned a lot, and I’m glad to say this was the end result. This is my Fallen London character, Santiago Morales. A ferocious and loyal poet of indistinct gender (they/them)

This is an animation I made to explain my character Satiago’s backstory. They worked for a man and his niece, but one day they were betrayed and cast into the ocean. Instead of being met with death, they found themself in a dark and marvelous new land. Also they write terrible poetry.

Ask about my OCs

#1: How does your character sleep? Peacefully, fitfully? What position do they sleep in? What is their typical bedding like?

When Brim was with their Order of the Gauntlet buddies, they definitely got used to sleeping wherever. However, the one exception to this is to fall asleep easily they need something or someone to hug. The Gauntlet people were probably endeared to Brim cuddling up close in the cold and eventually hugging them after a few months. I also think they slept pretty heavily, though they wake up easily if someone purposely tries to get them up.

As for in the Underdark... they use a piece of clothing or a bag to hug while sleeping because they know everyone would be uncomfortable otherwise. They also are more vigilant and sleep lighter here, because in their eyes they’re the strongest and they have to keep everyone safe. You may have noticed how I always set up Brim at the mouth of whatever cave we sleep in, and that is specifically because they want to be the first to be able to act if they can.

(Bonus Atom is that he sleeps at odd angles on his bed and every once in a while has to sleep somewhere else just to reset. He also just, sleeps like a teenage boy in a movie where he’s spread out in odd angles)

#16: If your oc could only eat one thing for the rest of their life (while miraculously not suffering from malnutrition), what would it be? Does this match their favourite food?

I don’t Brim cares too much about food, but they definitely have a sweet tooth, so I’m thinking pie? Then they can have a variety of sweet pies like chocolate and cherry and VERY OCCASIONALLY they’ll spice it up with shepherds pie.

(Listen, thinking about only one flavor of food is depressing so let me have this by saying you can have different flavors of the same basic food)

Atom... I’m not sure. My gut reaction is pizza, but that may be my own brain speaking. If I say spaghetti or noodles can that count for any dish like Fettuccine Alfredo and Mac n Cheese? To be fair, Atom, when posed with this question, would try his best to find a loophole, so I think saying noodles is definitely something he’d do. There’s so many options there! (Does he invent a dessert pasta seven years into his same food eating sentence? Absolutely.)

Okay I also love nightmares? like, character A has been trouble sleeping due to trauma and is visibly upset/twitching/ stirring in their sleep, So character B has to sooth them without waking them up. Brushing a hand through their hair, and perhaps holding them a bit closer or rubbing their back lightly.

The epitome of comfort.  I love it.
