I think it would be really funny if one day, Dream and his friends were invited to the new SMP and they staked out a piece of land nearby and declared independence
so...i love the new powers smp thing so much, and no matter what people say i think the avian class is pretty pog (if i had to make a decision I would’ve chosen avian or shulk).
i already have some headcanons, so i’ll list those under the cut! i just think this is so neat!
Headcanon time!
Avian Headcanons:
Avians throughout history are documented as being unable to fly, despite their name implying otherwise. Very few avians throughout history have been unable to fly at all without some sort of intervention.
This is because Avian wings stop growing at the equivalent of a nestling or fledgling stage of a bird- no matter how old the avian grows. This makes it impossible for them to fly as their wings haven’t developed the correct strength or feathers to do so!
There are however benefits to this! Despite being unable to fly, they can still glide and soar decent distances from high vantages points. They don’t molt their wings nearly as often as other bird based species. They also still have down feathers, which are often traded among members of an avian’s flock as a sign of trust.
Along with the wings, they naturally have higher speed and stronger bones and muscles. This is because they don’t need hollow bones to fly and they need the strength to land and jump.
Avians also have talon like nails. This is useful because even though most don’t fly, they can glide for long distances and often will run into surfaces or walls of which they need to climb or grasp on to.
Avians have their own language of which they simply refer to as ‘the chirp’. They sputter out chirps, songs, coos, and clicks that only avians and a select few others can learn. The most common sounds that other races have learned over time are their chirps when distressed. It is one of the loudest chirps an avian can make.
Avians have a feathered tail. This helps them catch air and fall slower. It also helps them move and control the direction they’re gliding in.
They have a slightly hard beak like nose. Depending on the bird, it’ll be shaped/colored differently. It’s purpose is to act like a nose, however due to how sharp it is it can make headbutting in self defense a good choice.
Feathers can often be found scattered about an Avian’s arms, back, neck, and face.
Tommy specific headcanons:
Tommy is well known among a lot of avians due to his parkour and gliding abilities. His gliding and landing is seen as one of the most smooth and graceful, and in combination with water and how he moves he can overcome most obstacles.
Tommy’s wings are pure white, however since he doesn’t molt often, he will often dye his wings using various flower dyes. He most commonly dyes the edges of his feathers either red or yellow.
Tommy’s coat has clasps on the back which let him open/close flaps to let his wings out free.
Despite his complaining about being unable to eat meat, he is actually very fond of the gardens of food he makes.
His shoes have feathers on them. He only has a few adult sized primary and secondary feathers, and the few times he’s molted, he’s kept them and he uses them to decorate. He also uses them as a more meaningful gift than his down feathers.
He’s created a group called the misfits with Jack Manifold and Niki. They’ve all given each other mementos. Jack gave Tommy some blaze powder, Niki gave him prismarine shards. Tommy in return gave them each one of his saved primaries (he coated Niki’s in bees wax so that it would stay water proof).
He has a small shulker box pin he got from Tubbo. He may think Tubbo is clingy, but that doesn’t mean they’re not pals.
He wears shorts because it allows him to move better, however he wears leggings with slightly padded knees just for the in-case moments where he doesn’t land so gracefully.
His coat is old, he’s had it since he was a lot younger. It’s gone through hell, literally, and has been patched up too many times to count.
