rodimus and drift are both overrated
rodimus is only interesting because he really does start out as an insecure self-centred guy running from his problems and slowly, slowly gets better about it
I hate it when people r like “Rodimus deserved better!!” like no, the entire point of the ending is that he can’t thrive on New Cybertron, none of them can, he and the rest of them still need work and can only do that at a distance from the society they grew up in. It’s not a question of moral desserts
he got the entire gosh darned series for a story, is that not enough???
drift’s story is a good one but….not any better than anyone else’s
Chromedome’s story is a better look at the consequences of self-loathing
Megatron’s is a better look at the nature of good/evil/sin/redemption
the relationship between rodimus and drift was eeeeh [wobbly hand gesture]
it was literally…in canon written as rodimus being too oblivious to realize he was taking advantage of drift and pushing him too far and drift being too much of a self-flagellating suck up to say anything about it
and from there it developed, but only after season 1 was over
drift/rod is NOT bad and in fact can be compelling and interesting but don’t be goin round saying it’s the best most healthiest most loving thing in canon like you failed 11th grade englisch class
megatron’s arc….in the context of the entire tf thing……wasn’t that jarring
even the Autobots don’t consider organics to be the same – there were quite a few that were fine with leaving the 60 ‘organics’ on Necroworld to die
meaning that his greatest sins as considered by the ABs are the cybertronian casualties of the war
except given the socio-political situation before the war, some of those are debatably necessary
ratchet’s views on religion are entirely justified and he’s not even that bad about it
drift’s philosophical compromise at the end is entirely sensible
skids/nautica boring and rushed
I only like it because it’s got Skids being semi-fridged to further Nautica’s development

anode is the best lady of the bunch
Rewind is as much of a bitch as Chromedome is, just in different ways
Where Chromedome has to constantly override his tendency to be needy and self-destructive, Rewind has to keep a leash on his tendency to be neglectful and stuck in the past
Perceptor had good reason to keep Brainstorm at a distance pre-Time Travel, what with his weird hours indicative of turncoating and his vast array of ethics committee-banned weapons
Prowl’s not quite as bad as exRID makes him out to be but he’s close
Drift/Ratchet not only makes sense but makes sense in season 1, season 2, AND season 3
though I still hate the fans
Megamags good bc a) intriguing look at the difference between justice and law, between what feels right and what is right, between punishment as retribution and punishment as incentive, b) classic forbidden romance between repressed individuals, c) as a person whose emails are never read and comments frequently ignored.......relatable
