2025 Fanfiction Year in Review
I wrote and posted 34 fics this year. 13 of those were written as a part of MCYT Shop. Another two were part of last year's Hermitcraft Guess the Author. The other 19 weren't part of any event. My favorites from the year are Rogue Element and Again and Again (Am I Moving Forward?). Those two are the ones I am most proud of (saying this from memory - I didn't reread either of them for this). Funnily enough, both of these were from events I did. Rogue Element is from Shop - A Joe-centric fic focused around Joe trying to save the Hermitcraft server. Again and Again was from HCGTA, and was about Xisuma working at a job where he contained and studied magical artifacts. I think they're by far my favorites. DOWNLOAD is the only fic I'm bringing with me into this year, because I knew I wasn't going to be able to do the concept justice if I rushed to edit it in 2025. As for series, I am still working on Wing Knights AU and Running From the Upheaval (which is my Space AU). These are the only old series I'm planning to actively work on this year. Outside of that, I also have drafts of solo fics that need some work as well, and everything else will be new projects.

Ok: I know MCC Writing's been over a minute now, but I think it's time for me to give my recs for my own work, considering there's some pieces I did really good on, and some that... exist. So I have 4 that I think are good, and 3 I'm gonna share here (out of the 8 total). (Please check TW for all btw, some of these are a little violent)
Keep Your Secrets Clutched Close to Your Chest: This is a Evil Xisuma whump fic, and is my shortest good fic at almost 6k words. It features secrets, confessions, kidnapping, torture, and Evil Xisuma whump with a happy ending. This one is one of more violent pieces, so please be careful with it.
Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Evil Xisuma time travels back into Season 8 after what he can only assume was a couple years in the void. Despite his initial inaction, what he finds there surprises him, and not in a good way. This has major themes of guilt, unreliable narrator Evil Xisuma, and hurt/comfort - though it is mostly Xisuma being comforted. It has a bittersweet yet hopeful ending, and I really want to write more of the universe later. Despite the short timespan and the way I absolutely would've wanted more scenes in it in any other circumstance, this remains the work I'm most proud of. While I still like the others, I think this piece showcases my growth over the past year or two, especially considering it was written and edited in one week.
You've Knocked Me Down onto My Knees: This is a living weapon Xisuma angst set in a weird vaguely cyberpunk world. Xisuma is a weapon for the City, and routinely fights the viruses who come through the firewall. Evil Xisuma is the strangest of these viruses, and also the most important in the eyes of the City. They're the only one who keeps coming back, and the only one who seems to have a... personal reason for showing up. This one also has torture (I was in a big torture mood for a chunk of the event for some reason), but it's less graphic than Secrets'. This is one of my favorites from the entire year's work so far.
New fic. I split the next Wing Knights part into 2 for editing reasons, but we're slowing getting into the next (and final) part.
