I had the absolute best time at @homelessworldcup in Cardiff’s very own Bute Park this afternoon. The footie ⚽️ itself was amazing, and really exciting and fun to watch, but what really blew me away was the camaraderie and kindness shown between all players, and all teams. My favourite moment was seeing every single player on the pitch comforting Bulgaria’s 🇧🇬 goalie when he was inconsolable at his team’s loss to Brazil 🇧🇷. It was a true testament to kindness ❤️ It was amazing seeing these teams playing together knowing what they’ve been through to get there, especially considering how young some of the players were. I loved that there were mixed teams of men and women; my carer was teasing me and laughing because she knew I was desperate to see some badass ladies kick ass on the pitch! I had a super interesting conversation with my awesome carer Sian (who’s literally one of my most favourite carers) about how there’s an interesting discussion in the Paliative care community about the intersection between homelessness and palliative care going on these days. Homelessness is on the rise, and so many homeless people live with illness until it’s really serious, or battle addiction, both of which can result in the outcome of needing palliative care. But how do you, for example, have the usual palliative care discussions such as “where do you wasn’t to die, Hospice of home?” when the person you’re working with doesn’t have a home? This is a subject I’ve recently got really interested in, and I wish I could’ve spent way more time learning about homelessness in general at The Homeless World Cup. Also, I’d seen Michael Sheen tweeting about all the fun, but I didn’t realise he’d actually be there? Carer was like “Amz, that’s Michael Sheen!” 😂! Anyway, after waking up feeling like crap and being unable to move from bed til I’d had quite a lot of medication and coffee at 12pm, I ended up having a really awesome day; even if we did get lost looking for the bus home, and have to walk back from the bus stop in the pouring rain ☔️😂! #homelessworldcup #homelessworldcup2019 #morethanagame #mwynagem #todaywasagoodday😎 #supporthomelesspeople #kindnessismagic✨ #bekind https://www.instagram.com/p/B0hJ1qbhBDZ/?igshid=1650c31z7re9j
