Two paths, diverged in a wood:
One dark and dreary, menacing and toxic, every bit the experience it looked to be;
One bright and cheery, rotten to the core and determined to ensnare every soul who wandered there.
Whatever path which was chosen, the strongest travelers have found their way out-- those left behind will be taken care of separately.
The place in which the travelers find themselves upon stumbling out of the wood is enticing to anyone, inhuman or otherwise-- a grand feast, with refilling food and delicacies of every kind, and accommodations for any kind of visitor imaginable. Invisible servants stand at the beck and call of the exhausted, weary individuals-- guiding them away to be bathed, groomed, returned to physical perfection. Even if they wanted to, they wouldn’t be able to resist-- this place tires them, more than the journey here might have, and everything whispers safe to them. Safety.
The numbers tattooed on their hands pulse. It’s a distracting kind of feeling, but not necessarily painful-- something will happen, soon. They all feel it.
Eventually, everyone is corralled back in the space where the food was located, soft grass bending under naked, clean toes. It all looks delicious. It seems every bit the greatest dinner party-- but once everyone has returned, all in one group, they notice one thing: a man sits at the end of the table.
Some-- faeries, especially those of royal bearing-- will recognize him. King Seokhyeon smiles, briefly, before disappearing in a flurry of daisies, with only one thing lingering: enjoy your time here, you are all my guests. Eat whatever you like: my treat. But here, we play a little game: for every piece of food you eat, you must promise another guest something in which they desire that you can accomplish. Before you eat again, you must accomplish this task. The longer you go without eating, the hungrier you will become, no matter how much you ate before.
A treat indeed. Even with the forest returned back to it’s dreamy state, fog rolling in gentle waves across the forest floor and things that simply shouldn’t be existing clearly before their eyes, the food is unmistakably tantalizing: and ripe for the taking.
Players who completed the road not taken will be fully permitted to engage with any and all other players at the feast without any hindrances, and small group threads (2+ people) are recommended. The logic of this task is that all players want to eat, and they will continue to want to eat even if they’ve had enough to make them full: for every meal they eat after their first, they must accomplish a task for another diner. If they do not eat, they will become famished and eventually succumb to the game; the food is simply too tantalizing to resist. Ideas for tasks can include any of the following and above: retrieving an item from the forest, comforting someone of their worst fears, fixing any lingering wounds they have, playing a prank on a friend; have fun with the idea! Remember, though, that all tasks must be feasibly accomplished within the forest. That means you can revive anyone’s dead mom. Sorry, Park Pack. All species are hungry and wish to eat, even if they would never eat otherwise.
Players who failed to complete the road not taken will appear at the feast as well, but they cannot eat. All food tastes like poison to them, and it all looks rotten, disgusting. They are unbearably hungry, as well-- but they, too, must play the game. The more tasks they complete for other diners, the more the food will be appetizing-- and eventually, they too will be able to eat. They are, however, also handicapped by one thing: if they failed to escape the first path, they will have a consistent screaming in their head, that alternates between high pitched screams and low pitched murmurs that degrade the victim in all ways possible; if they failed to escape the second path, a physical manifestation of their greatest desire follows and taunts them, visible only by themselves, and attempts to stop them at every chance. These handicaps will fade as more tasks are completed.
[!] All starters and threads should be tagged with #reverie:feast; this challenge relies more on group interactions, therefore group threads in icon/script form are recommended. Please keep your eyes open for future developments as the feast progresses...
