The 1973 MX360 paved the way for Yamaha's superb off-road capable machines. Before Yamaha’s legendary “YZ” line of motocross bikes debuted in 1974, “MX”machines ruled the roost (literally) at the tuning-forks company, and the MX360 was one of the best of the best in the dirt. The bike had a low center of gravity for better balance; Torque Induction for quick throttle response and better pulling power; and an automatic compression release, which made it easier to kick the 351cc, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine to life. The MX360 was also equipped with Autolube oil injection, but a lot of hardcore racers disabled the system and ran premix at a 30:1 ratio. New-for-1973 Thermal Flow rear shocks continuously forced the suspension fluid through a heat exchanger, cooling it and maintaining its viscosity. Had to snag a #photo with my #Uncle Jack!! I don't get to see him nearly often as I'd like. This man is the reason I looooove #motorcycles and going #FAST FAST FAST!!! When I was about 5 years old, we had gone to #Oklahoma and Uncle Jack gave me a ride on his #Yamaha #MX360. He'd asked me, "You okay?" and I replied with #FASTER!!!!
