it's fascinating that in these last arcs, there's through line of keiwa's hypocrisy when it comes to the goddess. he's angry at her but still wants her to grant his wish -> didn't want to join's ace dgp at first bc there was no way for the goddess to atone for her sins -> and now that he's w/ tsumuri, a person w/ the goddess' powers, he doesn't hesitate to use her to get his wish to be more powerful to be granted

Exactly! The whole thing was never about anyone but his family. About the people he knew. And his own desires. Which, yes! Is fine! Let him hesitate and waffle and figure it out: but it’s telling.

Keiwa really chose to create a new Goddess. When he considered not fighting to protect people because he couldn’t make the last one atone.

And you realize he hasn’t truly changed much.

people calling ace a jerk or asshole annoys me bc it's obviously not true even in the first arc. yeah, the dude is an asshole so that's why he helped an infected player recover and tried to change another player's mind even though /not/ doing both would have helped him win

and... even ace not being as bad as he "looks" is said right there at the end of ep.2 w/ the donation

([shrug] abt michinaga changing pairs bc he likes keiwa too. bc i know michinaga wouldn't have gone back to fighting by keiwa's side if mary didn't gloat by laughing and ace didn't annoy michinaga abt it)

I don’t think (from watching episode 7) that Ace was really a jerk.

You could argue that he was ‘using’ Keiwa or that he ‘manipulated’ him and what not but let’s be honest here

Even before Ace did anything Keiwa wanted to use boost buckle PLUS no one told Keiwa to do what he did alone. But Keiwa was set on doing it himself and not relying on anyone and / or putting anyone in danger and therefore what happened afterward was his own fault.

All Ace did was save his life, thereby getting a powerup he knew he would get from the secret mission.

What was he gonna do? Tell Keiwa about the secret mission? So Keiwa can get the powerup and win the game? Lol no.

That wouldn’t make any sense to anyone playing a competitive game unless you genuinely didn’t care about winning.

The only part that was Ace being a jerk was him putting up a front / using the mask of ‘jerk’ in order to (1) toughen Keiwa up to stop being so damn trusting of other competitors and (2) push him/everyone else away because Ace obv doesn’t want to get too close to anyone.

That’s why he keeps making everything conditional 🤪.

i think that's what people are missing. keiwa is a good person, yeah, but a good person doesn't automatically mean hero. hero is choosing to do good and keep choosing to do good and more importantly, to rider, it's choosing despite loss and despair to keep going and doing good

keiwa is a good person, yes, but he still has to go through a lot of shit to be a hero. he still has to decide, when faced w/ pain and loss and despair, to keep going, to keep being /good/

that's what neon, keiw and michinaga have to do now. to choose to do good and keep doing good

Exactly! And I feel like— like the center of this ark will be RESOLVE. does Keiwa have the resolve to protect people in the present and move on from the past? Does Michinaga have the resolve to fight now that his targets are gone or out of reach?

(Because Neon DOES have the resolve to move forward with her life, so what does that mean? And Ace absolutely has the resolve to make his World BETTER, but is that really a good idea?)

For Keiwa to reach his best state he has to confront on his own ignorance. He had to lose and suffer and not get it fixed FOR him. And he has to choose. What’s the point of being a Rider in a game with no reward? An interesting question for our so called good hero boy to PAUSE on.
