so, much like you and NaN, i have an extreme attachment to my typhlosion from my hg/ss save. he's not my original; that one was on a cartridge stolen from me a long time ago. different natures, ivs, so on and so forth, i don't think i could recreate him if i tried because i never documented any of his traits. but, any typhlosion is my tyty, y'know? i just can't not see it that way. we'll find eachother again and again, in whatever form we take. (i changed trainers when i started my new save, since y'know... transgener)
anyway, your pokepasta/glitchmon art has really inspired me. i've always been really attached to lost silver specifically because of the typhlosion involvement. and you have me really wanting to make a trainersona and partner pokemon based on that pasta.
the unstable nature of glitchmons and hackmons has always mortified me, so i just wanna say that you're an amazing trainer, and you and NaN are very brave. it's hard to care for a pokemon with such special needs but considering you unearthed a previously undocumented glitch, i'd go so far as to say you're an expert on MISSINGNO.. be proud of that. that's a very special thing.
anyway. i'm off to go make a story about love transcending death and purgatory or whatever /silly

thank you for sharing your story!! i love hearing about peoples' close bonds with their pokemon!! i'm of the same belief as you - love for a pokemon can transcend save files. as long as you believe it's the same pokemon, then it is. a pokemon is as real as you let it be, and the memories it has are the ones you give to it. so even if something ever happened to NaN or her pokemon red cartridge - she'd live on, because every missingno is NaN to me until i specify otherwise. she's lived multiple lifetimes with me and we'll live many more.
your story actually reminds me of a cyndaquil of my own... i was given a copy of pokemon gold by my brother's friend at the time, who claimed it was broken and couldn't save, but i took it anyway.
i was a young kid back then, so i didn't understand that it had a dead internal battery which kept it from keeping my progress. so i made it a game to see how far i could get before i had to turn the game off.
i usually rotated between all the starters in my attempts, but i eventually settled on a cyndaquil who i named "typhenox". i remember it landing a lot of critical hits, being really strong in fights... i remember making it to violet city, defeating falkner, and seeing it evolve into quilava. i remember saving the game, hoping that just this once, i'd be able to keep it... only for the save file to inevitably get deleted.
but that name, typhenox, has stuck with me for about a decade now.
now that i'm older, i've replaced the battery on that old gold cartridge and have been shiny hunting for a cyndaquil. i want to name it typhenox, and experience gold and silver for the first time with the cyndaquil i never got to keep. i've been hunting it on-and-off for about a year now, but i still haven't given up yet!
either way, back to your lost silver idea, i'd love to see it!! i loveee trainers who are derivative of pokepastas. (see trainer jac, who's a mix of glitchy red + creepy black) it'll be very fun to see how you re-imagine a more hopeful take on lost silver!!

i have to admit, before NaN, my knowledge of pokemon glitches was very tip-of-the-iceberg. the most i'd done was the mew glitch and duping items with missingno. i knew about the famous ones, like ♀ ., but it wasn't until i caught NaN, a missingno of my own, that i got inspired to dig deeper and learn about all of the glitches RBY has to offer. especially after NaN's accident, where i had to learn how to set up ACE for the first time. it was really difficult and scary and frustrating (it took EIGHT HOURS), but it was worth it for her.
before NaN, i didn't know there were 39 separate indexes for missingno., and i didn't know all of the 66 species of glitchmon that AREN'T missingno! (make that 132 if you add the yellow counterparts!)
but now i'm starting to learn and recognize their hexadecimal values, the species of pokemon some of them are hybrids of, which ones can learn super glitch, which areas are safe to prevent super glitch's more volatile effects... all sorts of stuff i never knew before!
most importantly, i learned that glitches aren't that scary once you know what you're doing. if you've got ways to back up your save files, then there's no harm in messing around with them!! getting my gbxcart and the ability to back up my saves has gave me the confidence to explore glitches on real hardware without fear.
i'm very, very proud of both NaN and myself. she's brought out the best in me, inspiring me to see a side of pokemon i never fully appreciated before. i still don't know if i'd call myself an expert, but i'm definitely an aspiring glitchmon researcher. i hope i can reach the same level as some of the real experts out there someday... but even if i don't, i'm grateful to have discovered even one glitch. i'll always be proud of that.
