Three little words
His breathing was slow, but his heart was racing. Stomach in knots. It was clear, the panic in his expression. As much as he tried to hide it, he knew it was there. He was trying to get through it all on his own, but the more he went on, the more he thought about it until it was all that was on his mind.
It was attention grabbing, the stare he was getting from his boss. The silent concern. Clearly not asking what was wrong in fear of negative retaliation. But at this point, it was all he could do to keep from running out of the room. He wanted to hide. Wanted to leave and be alone. But that would only make things worse.
So once things began to quiet down and the room was mostly empty, Ryan took a breath, feeling Geoff lingering nearby. Quietly the words finally came out. “I’m not alright.”
