As a matter of principle, Nelliel never went out of her way to avoid someone as she ambled through the marbled hallways -- even when the company was especially unpleasant.
Her steps trickled to a halt a few feet away from where he stood. Normally she wouldn’t spare so much as a glance, but once again he had Santa Teresa by his side. The sheer size of the ax denied her any room to step past without squeezing against the wall.
“I believe there are more than enough reasons not to brandish your weapon as you walk,” she said, placing a hand on the hilt of her own sword, “least of which is blocking the path for the rest of us.”
