The silence was deafening...
It had been a week since the death of the two royal children, Chara and Asriel. The two were beacons of hope for the underground after monsters were sealed underground oh so little ago.
The two of them made so many people trust in the future, that humans and monsters could eventually come together again. This only crushed those dreams of many, including Frost.
While Frost was obligated to manage his restaurant to keep it afloat during this time of peril, neither he or most patrons wanted to come. Many monsters were still mourning over their tremendous loss. This resulted in Frost merely waiting behind the bar for hours at a time, in loud silence, staring at empty seats.
Tonight wasn’t any different to him. Only a few families stopped by to get a meal and a single male patron trying to drink their problems away. It was by far more eventful than the prior days, and to Frost, that was a good thing. Perhaps they could get past this tragedy! He couldn’t imagine the pain Toriel was going through though. The poor queen..
They had met once at the wedding and bonded so quickly. She seemed like such a pleasant woman. She didn’t deserve any of this. Not the war, not the loss of her kids, nothing! Now here he was, not paying her a visit or checking in up her. He was ashamed of himself, but Frost didn’t have a clue how to help her. How does one comfort for such a thing?
He shook his head, wiping the thoughts from his mind. With a deep sigh, he expunged all those negative feelings. Now wasn’t the time to guilt trip himself. He had a successful business now! No more family drama. No more surface world tension.
He survived the war and it was time to move on.
Why did those thoughts plague his mind every night even years later?..
Whatever the answer was, it could wait. It was nearly time to close. The night was young and he was ready for a long night’s slumber soon.
