"I'm so hungry," Jason groans, all but collapsing dramatically against the corner of the fire escape. "Please tell me your corner bodegas are not weird about masks and capes strolling in at two in the morning to purchase five hot pockets."
He's not sure whether Matt's lamenting his decision for the two of them to team up, but now that they've made someone of a bi-monthly habit of it, he's learning rather quickly that Jason's appetite needs to be sated at every other of the night, lest he turn into a monstrous, hungry creature by morning.
"I mean, it's Halloween, what are they gonna do, ask us about it?" Jason adjusts his helmet and swings himself off the railing onto the lower level, landing with a tremor of metal against metal. Not the best or the quietest, but he's determined to get down to the street and find something to eat.
❛ new york kinda sucks, huh? ❜ dick you grew up in gotham and live in blüdhaven now you literally have no room to talk. ❛ just objectively i mean. lots of...crime. ❜ // @mxttmurdock
i just finished and and MATT AND ELEKTRA OMG MY HEART
god i know
(spoilers under the cut)
i still think the mcu hasn’t done right by elektra…. i think the whole brainwashing plot was stupid…. i think the writers needed to go to a seminar on anti-asian racism before they were allowed to write anything, or better yet, they needed to BE ASIAN…. i think they had a storyline right in front of them where elektra could have taken down the hand herself and that would have been a stronger story
BUT
matt recognizing elektra and then immediately and constantly refusing to believe she’s a lost cause
stick: if we work as a team we can get out of this alivematt:matt: [GRABS ELEKTRA AND RUNS]
elektra killing stick
elektra’s personal quest to discover who she is including a stop-off at his apartment
matt canonically keeping her funeral card and a pressed orchid in his bible
“his name is matthew”
“i lost you once. i won’t do it again”
that whole fight/make-out was so??? my exact aesthetic and i’m not too proud to admit it. in any universe, matt and elektra together at the end of the world is quintessentially them
and ultimately i do think that staying was the right thing for him to do. the way i read it, matt was willing to die, but it wasn’t about wanting to die. it was about being where elektra is. defenders was all about matt making changes to be a better person. he didn’t always do it right, but he tried. after knowing he failed elektra in the past, he refused to give up on her again. that’s always been the best of who matt is.
and as many problems as i have with how she’s been treated, elektra not thinking she’s redeemable is an old old story for her. as long as she feels that, it will matter for matt to demonstrate his faith in her. not because she “needs a man to save her,” but because everyone needs someone.
do i think the writers should have made this more about elektra and her journey? yes. do i think the implication that elektra pulled him to safety should have been made explicit, so we also got to see her saving him? yes. but this wasn’t nothing, either.
and anyway they’re my fucked-up star-crossed kids and i love them
It was getting late, sun dipping behind the horizon and the city lights starting up. Alexandra would be waiting for her, probably mad her student had wandered so far but Elektra didn’t care. This apartment held more for her that anywhere else she had been since coming back. For the first time in months she had a name. She had snippets of memory of the life before. And it was because of him.
Matthew.
Elektra sat on the couch, fingers running over the surface of it as she tried to take it all in.

matt: [ comes home to food wrappers and dishes strewn about and a lump passed out asleep in his bed ] oh cass must be here
don’t call her out like this she never learned clean living and now she has a butler that follows her safe house to safe house at least once every two weeks to clean everything
❝you know, i’m pretty sure we’re not supposed to get along?❞ there’s a whole thing about cops and lawyers, but given both of their alternate lines of work...dick thinks there might be a reason it doesn’t hold up. ❝you think they should make a movie about us? a cop and a lawyer actually putting aside their differences for the greater good?❞ // @mxttmurdock
