YOU HEARD ME🫵 GET OUT THERE AND CREATE, YOU AND YOUR MASTERPIECES DESERVE TO BE SEEN!
Anyways for anybody who is interested in my art process: sometimes I sketch and decide that I want to change or move part of the drawing but don't want to possibly loose the way it looked before in case the change I made is bad. What I then do is, I duplicate the layer and keep one of them the way it was before I made the change, just to be sure. And that way I sometimes get a bunch of different versions of different stages of my sketch/outlines and I thought I'd show y'all what that looks like, if anybody is interested^^
I'm putting the example sketches under the cut also just fyi it's kinda nsfw...
I don't know if you've already talked about this so I'm sorry if its a repetitive question but would you be willing to share a bit about your workflow? How do you go from sketch to colourized piece? Do you have favourite brushes? I absolutely love your style and even your sketches are so polished and beautiful <3
Firstly, thank you sm you flatter me hehe!!
And secondly-
You’re actually the first person to ask me and I’m happy to share!
Here’s a timelapse that shows my process better than I can probably explain it lol
(Ps: I plan to do my first ever art stream soon so tune in for that if ya wanna get the full process experience!)
And here’s my yap about the process anyway! (Skip for brushes)
I like to think of my process kinda like sculpting? I lay down the bare framework/shapes and then just do pass after pass (usually only like 1-2) of refining until I’m happy with how it looks. My sketches tend to be very loose and concepty imo since I go the very “line of action” route of drawing where I try to capture the movement of the piece before solidifying anything.
I’m pretty much just feeling out the drawing as I go and letting muscle memory take over which I can probably chalk up to my like 18ish years of doing this :p
I think my drawing process now days is very much just me throwing myself at something again and again until it looks right to me, so I typically just try to figure it out myself before I go looking for the specific ref I need. Honestly, I find it more fun that way and again I can probably only do that because of how long I have been drawing (and studies I have done in the past, do your studies!! It does help!!) I’m also a bit of a perfectionist so that probably plays a part in why I do the way I do.
My coloring process is less detailed. Very recently I have found a way (via an artist tip on tiktok) of keeping my colors for a piece coherent (demonstrated in the timelapse above) and have just ran with that since it seems the simplest way for me to get a decent colored piece made.
For a very long time rendering has been the bane of my existence because I never thought my final render was worth the time it took to get there. However, thanks to that tip, I’ve gotten back to coloring my drawings and have felt better about how long it takes to get a finished piece I’m ok with instead of not trying at all 👍
I’d really like to have a pretty rendering style someday but that will probably require me to lock in and teach myself color theory and lighting- which I have just been avoiding doing lol
Anyway- rant/explanation over, here are the two brushes I use for pretty much everything!
(Oh and I just use the hard airbrush from procreate to erase if anyone cares lol)
Also sorry I can’t find the creator of the KC Lineart Brush pack :( but thankfully the creator of my current favorite brush put a tag with their set! So pls go check them out if ya need some awesome new brushes :)
I find all of my brushes here ⬇️

Hey it's Savethisnewwriter! Thank you so much for opening your asks!
This is mostly an art based ask, given I like drawing too (not that great at it yeah). I would love to say I love the way you draw eyes? Especially Kimi's, the way his eyes and the button nose go together? It's so good! And the eyes are so good at conveying their emotions! I also would like to say I love Puffer Max? Soooo cute! Especially the way the lips jut out, in an "O". It's beyond cute! I am infact thinking of writing a Russtappen with that Puffer Max! 😭
Your manga illustrations are crazy too! Especially the way Max is Denji, I mean that's cool yeah but the way George is Makima? His eyes are already big enough, and then you add the circles? It's sooo good!
All in all I guess my main question is:
A) How do you draw the face? Whenever I try to draw rpf, I get lost searching for references in that particular angle. I scrolled down your blog and saw that you do a lot of sketches (I need to do that too!) of the drivers faces in different angles. So like, do you keep a reference sheet? Of their face in different angles? Or have you just practised their key notable features?
B) Regarding the pose refs, a problem I have seen in my drawings is that no matter how many good refs I take, the fluidity does not come! Like, it looks stiff. I saw your CarCar work (yes and that caption too, I cannot deny how true that is) and the pose models, but the fluidity of motion was something that you imbued it with. Also, the Chainsaw Man stuff (I went to your YT, intend to follow you there with a separate acc!) has a organic motion to it.
So how do you exactly practise that? I think all my years I have been practising wrong? Because the rigidity does not leave no matter how much I am trying!
C)I love your bondage work! Just appreciation! Especially the facial expressions?? Those are sooo hard to pin down in general? So like do you use refs or a general knowledge of facial structure for that?
Nonetheless, I was so happy when I got that vampire George fanart!! The fireworks that went off then? You have no idea! I intend to write a Vampire George turning omega Max fic, but I think it will be a step more complicated than that. You see I am preparing for the Summerween Exchange, which just means I have been watching Vampire movies back to back😭
Nonetheless, I love Russtappen, and if you ever have something you want written, do tell me! My Queen _R blog though, that's where I write Russtappen. Thanks for opening your asks again!!
(Again, I love Duhcita. Can you imagine GR cuddling and kissing Puffer Max? Fic incoming!!! Also, can I get your ao3, to gift you the works?)
Hi OMG!! Thank you so much! I feel so flattered rn omg this is so much!! 😭🥺🫶
Here I'll answer your questions for my art process, this is not an art tutorial so take it with a grain of salt LOL:
A) Sort of both haha! I do keep references of all the drivers faces and I break down or study their notable features long enough that it's embedded in my mind whenever I try to draw some of them!
Since I draw digitally a lot, I use PureRef (free btw!) to keep tabs of my references while it's on top of the drawing program that I use! Krita may have a reference image feature tool but I prefer to have a reference that doesn't zoom in/out itself whenever I use the zoom tool LOL. Using PureRef speeds up my art process more. I usually don't need it when I am aiming for stylization that's far from semi-realism/full realism but when I struggle to draw them from certain angles, I just use these portraits that F1 uploaded to eyeball it! Although I would say the lighting's pretty harsh on these portraits but I don't mind that much.
Sometimes these portrait references of them aren't suffice enough to draw something complex so I look for more references from pinterest lol
These are the portraits I use of the drivers, I seriously can't believe they thought of uploading their portraits like it was made for a reference to draw. SERIOUSLY GODSENT PHOTOS. Whoever came up with this photoshoot, I hope your salary is high ❤️
This is how I organize their references using PureRef! I just zoom in on the photo if needed.
I actually do have my usual framework (pic below) of drawing certain angles out of habit whenever I sketch certain head angles, I usually stick with this kind framework as a guide to follow through! Just one convex plane with a cross on it lol
B) I sometimes exaggerate certain parts of the muscles to convey tension! I do keep a lot of references of body muscles like how it's tensed up and all. Every muscle is organic and does not have a technical or fixed shape, think of our anatomy like it's water! It's fluid! (well idk if this helps LOL)
C) Got a silly answer for this, I use my mirror to look at myself then convey an expression that I eyeball and apply it to my sketch then I just try to feel where the muscles are contorted or tensed up LOL I observe which part of the muscle is contorted or pinched (same kinda applies from B answer but I use my face instead LOL!) My extra art tip to you:
Well to answer your question regarding art tips, tbh I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. I didn't start out good as well. I went to an art school once but I dropped out (it was shit) LOL. Sure I learned some helpful fundamentals from it but tbh most of 70% of my learning came from online like youtube art tutorials. Plenty of resources out there!
I do use references a lot when I am struggling or feel unsure on the subject I am drawing. Great artists and masters do draw from plentiful of references! The trick is on how you break down references into simple shapes mentally! I could not recommend watching Ethan Becker's channel enough because I learned so SO SO MUCH from him almost a decade back like he actually explains the psychology behind it and how you exercise your brain to build your visual library when you keep sketching and practicing from references! Eventually your mind will remember how to draw certain poses and angles with fluid and organic motion! I'm not sure if his passive aggressive wholesome persona would be to your liking but for real, he REALLY helped me a TON LOT!!!!
Another channel that I'd like to recommend is Marco Bucci! He covers a lot of art fundamentals that sometimes I think it feels illegal to watch for free 😭
And also, thank you! I'll keep your writer alias in mind! I love Rustappen so SO MUCH!! I'll give your fics a peek and download them on my phone to read! 👀❤️🫶
My AO3 is SinisterRem! I plan to post some drawings there in the future when it's really darkfic like fucked up darkfic that I can't bring myself to post on tumblr or twt LOL.
OMG I am seriously looking forward to it 🥺 waahhh.... and I appreciate you'd offer to write for me omg! WHAT!! You're too sweet! I'll let you know when I think of an idea maybe 🥺👉️👈️
“They say she can heal the most tainted hearts with just one tear drop.”
Pond fairy was a head scratcher for sure, but after a few minutes I went, “Oh, the naiads from the story lore” and then I went, “wait, is this a legend of Zelda reference?”. So I went with the water fairy theme and drew Shiemi Moriyama. I hope I did her justice. First time drawing her. I’m feeling better mentally today. I guess I was experiencing imposter syndrome. What a mess, but I’m grateful to have such amazing and understanding friends. Happy MerMay 💖 song is my favorite lofi music ever. If you need to relax or take a nap, highly recommend.
I thought I would share with the class how I made this Kaboodle fanart!
