Data: *talks about taking a leap of faith* *worries he isn’t capable of giving his daughter the emotional support she deserves* *disobeys direct orders on multiple ocassions based on beliefs he has or people he cares about and wants to save/protect* *has a self-declared ‘best friend’* *treats his cat like it’s his baby* *sacrifices his life for his friends on multiple occasions* *adopts every child (and q) that ends up alone and afraid on the enterprise* *goes for therapy sessions because he is having nightmares* *spends his off hours painting, writing poetry, and learning how to tell jokes*
Data: I wish I had emotions :(
If you look carefully while watching TNG, you start to notice the million face journeys Mr. Data goes on, mostly into a general “confused and slightly disturbed by humanity” or a “i’m going to need 1.3 entire seconds to process wtf was just said to me”.
Kudos to Data for getting through a week in which...
1. He learns that he has a mom.
2. He learns that his parents got a divorce.
3. He has to be the one to tell his mother that his father died.
4. His mom tells his boyfriend that he ‘couldn’t keep his clothes on’ as a child.
5. His mom’s new husband (his step-dad?) commits a hate crime against him (by telling riker that data is ‘just a machine’).
6. He finds out that his mom is, in fact, an android but doesn’t know it.
7. He speaks with a hologram of his late father, who tells him not to tell his mother about the fact that she’s an android.
8. He learns that his parents left him and his brother behind on a planet that was being attacked.
9. He learns that he had other older siblings he never knew about, who all died.
10. He makes the difficult choice not to tell his mother that she’s an android, even though it would mean he wouldn’t be ‘alone in the universe’ anymore.
Data’s fake laugh makes me real laugh
The Softness in Data's voice when he said 'it is good to see you' to Geordi in The Next Phase...the Tenderness...the Feeling.
Data: "Perhaps I am fortunate, sir, to be spared the emotional consequences."
Data five seconds later: Stands in the hallway staring at a token from his friendship with Tasha's sister looking like he's about to cry.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love Data?
Seriously. So much love for Data. Ugh. He my favorite.
