If all f1 contracts were to end tomorrow and you could build a new grid for 2022 where money wasn’t an object and there are no constraints on which drivers could go to each team (alpha tauri isn’t junior Red Bull, teams with Ferrari engines don’t need a Ferrari driver etc), what would your grid look like?

this is where I admit I have not yet known enough drivers to give a good answer, so take this as a half-crack and half-serious answer:

idk how but maybe bring back Daniil Kyvat and/or Alex Albon? I just think they’re neat.

I still would like to see Callum Ilott in an Alfa Romeo, I just think he looks neat in those colors + I want to see what he can do with an F1 seat

I’d still keep Mick in the Haas if it was comparable to the old Haas before it became a backmarker fjkgg. I think he’d do well with a few years of cutting his teeth in a midfield team before moving up. Otherwise, Mick to Alfa Romeo because Fred Vasseur is good at developing young drivers/future champions (I think?)

Ngl, I would like to see a Lando and George pairing in the McLaren. I want to hear what the British commentators (derogatory) would say when you pit these two together in the same team, and also I think it would be a great opportunity for George to show what he can do in a strong midfield team and prove that he deserves a higher seat. 

Charles stays in Ferrari because I cannot physically imagine a better match of driver and team in terms of vibe. They are both insane/stupid, chaotic, narratively important, somewhat downright mythical, and exude feral bastard energy. 

Carlos has so far proven to be a good fit as a Ferrari teammate to Charles, but otherwise, I am saying that I would love to see an Italian (Antonio Giovanazzi) in a Ferrari again :3 (Also, two FDA boys in the Ferrari.......)

I would like to see Guanyu in a seat. Maybe Alpine, maybe Williams. He’s leading the F2 championship rn and it would mean a lot to me to see a Chinese-speaking F1 driver even if I ideologically disagree with China 💔

Unlikely scenario but like imagining Daniel Riccardo and Oscar Piastri in the same team makes me happy so...yeah :’)

Likely an unpopular opinion, but I want Yuki to stay in F1. I think maybe he got promoted a bit early, but one more year to develop on all levels would be good to see what kind of driver he really could be in F1 imo and...I just would like to a see a Japanese driver be able to make it? You see a lot of them in junior categories, but idk why they just seem to have a hard time actually moving up to F1....

Pierre to Mercedes intrigues me. I would like to see it.
