Andrew Robinson as Elim Garak in Deep Space Nine, S6. E19 - In the Pale Moonlight (1998)
Inspired by fabasten's favorite Sharks cards post, here are my current faves from my own collection! Most of them Will and Mack (surprise surprise), but I have a few others, too.
First up: my willmack collection! Some day I'll be able to acquire all the parallels for the willmack Young Guns Teammates🥲. I also have the gorgeous new MVP Duos coming in the mail.
Tickles me how Will and Mack are looking at each other longingly in the Silver Skates series when you put them side-by-side. Working on completing the full set of parallels for the Will 2025-26 O-Pee-Chee Platinum series (the two cards in upper left) but fuuuuck me the super limited print runs (the /25 orange checker parallel [i.e. only 25 have ever been printed] and the cosmic /65, in particular) are expensive.
You'll notice that I have a lot more Will cards compared to Mack. That's because Mack cards generally cost 2-5x more than Will cards for the exact same set and series. Problematic hockey card value gap relationship! Cancel them!
The Vibe Check card is giving cursed doll, and Will looks like a cat about to throw up in the Arcticulates card. Iconic. You know you've arrived when Upper Deck does you dirty with a hockey card photo. Also, the Mack Canvas card (bottom right) is a secret willmack card. Check out the back:
I had to get it for that reason alone. (Also I'm obsessed with how players tape their sticks in general and how Mack in particular tapes his stick.)
Side note: the Mack and Toff Compadres card is currently one of theeeee most affordable Mack cards on the market, and it features everyone's favorite funcle. What's not to love!
Love love love the Oracles series (top right). Currently keeping an eye on the Mack Oracles cards on auction in the vain hope that I can snipe something for a reasonable price last-minute.
Also, it's hard to tell in the photo above, but the bottom three cards are all printed on transparent plastic, which I think Looks Neat.
The first two hockey cards I bought. "Oh hey let's check out the Will and Mack cards on eBay," I said. "Can't be too crazy, right," I said. I've been playing and collecting Magic cards since 2008! My first boyfriend collected football and basketball cards! I won't get sticker shock, right? I WAS A FOOL.
Bonus round: my favorite cards that aren't willmack! Absolutely obsessed with how cunty Connor Bedard looks in his Portraits card. Upper Deck went with a completely different look for 2024-25 and it is TRAGIC because we missed out on the opportunity to have Will and Mack in lacy cravats.
Do you collect hockey cards? Share your faves, share them I wanna seeeee
I will be holding funeral for my lost obm accs, NB and IDO.
To the story progression I lost and the cards and money I spent.
You were loved and cherished</3
It was not my choice, it was the choice of fate and my phone meeting it's end in terrible work accident.
I now have to start again
