my mom sent me this picture of my cat last week and I’m still not over it

I think my daughter is destined to be an artist. She draws so much and with so much character. She's already picked up conventions of cartoonish emotional expression and also found her own ways to effectively convey complex ideas through simple images. Her character designs have consistency between pages as she unfolds stories, albeit quite repetitive stories.

She also has an amazing, in my opinion, eye for subtle hues. She can distinguish teal as well as various shades of green with ease; also fuchsia, although that ones tough for her to pronounce.

She can now handle a fine liner with some grace and it's been at least a year since she developed a technique to paint the three coloured stripes of aquafresh toothpaste with a single brushstroke.

Did I mention she's five?

Dear Sour Cream,

Please at least try to get along with Yellowtail. I know you feel like he’s being unfair for discouraging you from becoming a dj, but he really only means the best for you. We both do. It’s just that the music business is a scary place filled with dangerous people. I know this from personal experience, and pray that what happened to me will never happen to you. I want you to know that we will always support you, no matter what you do.  Perhaps we’ve gone overboard in trying to protect you.

I’m sorry your father and I aren’t always around to be with you. We both lead very busy lives, but we love you very much. I will try to make more time to be a part of your life. I am so proud of you for how well you and your brother have done with less than optimal guidance. I’ll be back in town soon. Maybe we can go to Funland?

One of my best friends Ashley is stressed out a lot. So I bought her a cheesy card and wrote to her like she's my daughter, because she pretty much is. I'm really excited to give it to her.
