Thad’s composed expression changed dramatically in an heartbeat. His brows furrowing, eyes narrowing as he crossed the room slowly. The look on his face clearly showed that he was not in the least bit amused with her. Nor, did he believe her attempt to act innocent in the matter.
"You know perfectly well who I am referring to Elaine. Do not think, for a mere second that I am a blind imbecile. Out of all my acquaintances surely you would have learned by now that I am clearly not as ignorant as the majority believes me to be."
His hand found her throat now, eyes peering down at her with a piercing accusatory look. He knew what she had been up to. Yes he may have been partially at fault, but she should know by know who she belonged to. “Do not forget the power I hold over you. You are mine. You’d do well to remember that fact.” He spat out coldly in a low tone, not once raising his voice this entire time. It was the most he had ever said since meeting her 95 some years ago. Yes he came off sometimes as a dumb mute, but he was far from being inferiorly intellectual. He released her with a force enough to make her lose her balance.
The look on his face gave away the fact he had not believed her innocence. It had only made her more nervous and even a bit scared. At first she tried to remain where she was but as he got closer Elaine couldn’t help but take a step away. At least until his hand found her neck. She tried to take in a breath but his grip was permitting her from doing so. An odd swell of anger had formed at his words. What did that even mean? Why did it even matter when she felt like little to nothing when with him? Owning her did nothing more than slowly drive her mad. When he released her, she stumbled back and hit the ground. She brought a hand up to her neck as let out a slight cough, now staring down at the floor. “Of course, I have not forgotten my place. It doesn’t mean I’ll practice celibacy..” She snapped in a croak. Her stare turned to a scowl down at the floor. “What does it matter what I do? At the end of the day, I can’t go anywhere, I don’t have a life, or my life isn’t mine. I can’t do anything, I can’t be anyone outside of your damned slave.” There was an intense amount of venom that seemed to seep out of her words. She just wanted to live a little, be reckless where she couldn’t be, and get lost in the small moments and be a euphoric kind of content. Elaine hadn’t truly been herself in a century now. She missed it, she craved it, and not having that was slowly tearing away at her.
