Alec Lightwood's Sugar Baby Journal (1/?)
—tomorrow at six in the morning your time please tell le garçon I would like waiting for me a café allongé, very hot and a sidecar, very cold. I will then entertain the children for the rest of the day while you, my love, my all, take a nap and join us whenever you please.
Le garçon means waiter or a male employee.
Café allongé is an espresso with hot water added to it
Sidecar is a cocktail made with brandy (usually cognac), orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier, dry curaçao, or a triple sec), and lemon juice. In fact, it looks really similar to the one Alec's holding in the art.
It suggests they have a personal waiter/butler ready to prepare drinks for them; it's safe to assume they're staying at some sort of luxury hotels, high-end resorts in St.Barts, before they got interrupted.
Considers Secrets of Blackthorn Halls takes place around January 2014 (and would span for a few months), for estimation, Malec would go on vacation around January to February, an excellent time for vacationing there.
Combined all that information with this hotel booking service I found, it would cost on average $2,400-$2,500 for two adults and two kids with two different rooms per night (roughly). Adjusted for inflation, it would be about $1,772-$1,846 for accomondation alone, not to mention other services they may use (the bar, restaurant, etc...)
Also considers the cocktail Alec's holding suit the description for a sidecar, it's either both his and Magnus's favorite or Magnus orders it for him.
