When a person is sanitised, they are taken over and killed, and return as a part of Tartar's hivemind. 10,007 have been taken.
Agent 3 and Number 10,008 met for the first time as enemies. They meet again for a rematch at the end of 8's journey through the Metro, Agent 3 in the process of being sanitised, and puppeted by the Commander. Agent 3 is rescued before he can die and be fully sanitised, and 8 gets to see the sun. The first string begins to unravell.
I have a really really cool idea for how Agent 4 will fit into side order, not sure how accurate it will be to the actual DLC when it comes out but I'm in love with it
